Purely for competition, and it will be up to how good he really is if he sticks.
Pat Caroll shot well enough in the summer league, and those two guys may be fighting for a spot.

I'm thinking that big from the summer league Harryaz 6'11 might earn a spot
JVG while talking to the guys calling the game said he was a smart player who just seemed to be in the right spot, plus he had a great mid range jumper in college and good rebounder. The knock on him is his strength.

Azubuike made a huge mistake entering the draft two years ago. Now he's going to be a NBDLer who would be lucky to make an NBA roster.

He played well in Vegas. He put up some great numbers, though somewhat inflated, considering Denver played at a ridiculous pace.

Still, even when I adjust for pace, his box score stats were just as good as Brandon Roy's, if not better.

Yeah, but these are summer league games, against scrubs and fellow NBDL'ers nonetheless. I heard last year the 76ers were taking a look at him too after summer league, but he just never made the team.

But if he's putting up spectacular numbers against scrubs/NBDL'ers, that at least indicates he's above their level. Perhaps he can be a rotation player in NBA.

I think the Rockets are correctly going after big, athletic, wing players. Snyder, now this guy who might turn out to be something (who knows?). Better than going after 38+, former Knicks.

True, perhaps he'll be able to pan out for us. I don't see any harm done since this is cheap. To be honest, I was actually thinking about some other guy, don't really remember the name though, but he was compared to Rashard Lewis upon entering the draft. Just didn't have an NBA mentality. But yeah, Azubuike was pretty good in college at UK so he might develop into a solid player.

The Rockets need to stop short-changing themselves if they're serious about winning next season. You had a draft and a midlevel exception and all you got was Shane Battier and Kirk Snyder? They seem to be very contempt with the lack of depth we still have. Dallas almost won the championship last year, and their STILL more aggressive then we are. How is that? How can a team that's obviously better than we are be more aggressive in making their team better, while we just sit and sign nobodies like Azubuike. No offense, but why don't we go get somebody than can actually help the team win. Reggie Evans should've been on our radar, but I don't know why we haven't in the sweepstakes

Because Carrol Dawson is an idiot. No offense to V-Span, but Stevenson signed with the Wizards for the minimum man..We spent even more on a 2nd Rd pick with unguaranteed success. God I REALLY hope Morey doesn't learn from Carrol and becomes a Colangelo type of GM *wishful thinking*

btw read Azubuike's story at CF.net. He HAD to enter the draft. sad :C

    [IMG] I hope so.

Man I hope this signing isn't part of an elaborate scheme to trade Head.
