The only scenario I could see it as good for GS is if they do the deal, CWebb plays decent (not great but decent numbers) and then GS sends him to a playoff team for some 1-year contract scrubs. I know it would be hard to make a deal (that's why I don't like this trade) but if he played decent for half a year, a number of contenders might want to add him to the fold. Even if we could get back Bryant "Big Country" Reeves, Christian Laetner, or Hilary Clinton, that'd still be a clear upgrade over Foyle.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bayareafan85:</div><div class="quote_post">I read an article that the Sixers are trying to trade Webber. Would anyone on this board trade for Webber. I know he is old and fragile but it looks like his huge contract is up in two years.
Could this be a way to get rid of Murphy, Foyle if we threw in Zarko?</div>
Man, I'd do that, but the question is would the sixers, especially since overpaying Sammy D based on potential and still having A.I. to worry about. Plus, who wants Foyle? The guy is so bad as a starter, and possibly even as a backup if one needs somebody to score in the paint. I like Foyle as a backup but that's a lot of dough for a backup who may not be as good as he used to be off the bench. The guy is fading fast in terms of things he can do. If he can't block shots the way he used to with increased minutes, then what else does he do besides deflect the ball out of bounds or to the other team? He's not the best basketball mind in the world, either. His court sense is pretty lousy sometimes, especially where his own teammates are.

    Webber and Spewell are 2 guys I can't root for-at all-ever again.
They stuck it to this team-and us fans-with glee. screw em' I really can't imagine Mully doing anything that goofy.

Wilcox? The guy's game is all over the place, even in Seattle,he'd have a big game,a blah,game...

I can see a deal for a SF upgrade. Harrington scores. Shoots too many 3's - not much D..but better than more Dun. Wilcox however still has to prove he's even equal to Murphy. In the past,he's been inconsistant in effort and results, but mainly-he's a PF. Ike will be better. Wilcox as a C? The guy's 6-10 235. Taft is 260. Taft also won't cost us $8 mill.

Really though-we need to be playing Biedrens-Taft-O'Bryant....these 3 are our 3 raffle tickets to the jackpot. We have an investment to grow and I don't want them cheated of minutes. Frankly-I'm not that concerned about this years W-L,I want the whole enchilada further down the road.
I think we can challenge the young talent we have, get them productive real soon-and still make the playoffs with some nice momentum,as improving the guys on the bench to whatever level possible-can mean a much better team in Feb than in Nov.

The Warriors need to get Foyle back down to his effective playing weight, which was around 255. those extra 15 lbs add leverage inside-but it takes away quickness.

I'm with you REREM on not caring about this year, but three years down the road or maybe sooner. The salary situation for the next few years is indeed scary as predicted by hardcore capologists like Kwan back in '04. Also maybe Foyle is a bit overweight for his own good, it's too bad it won't apply to his hands or the ability to make a dunk or a layup or see the floor well. The guy is just crappy and going downhill fast.

I want to see Dunleavy or Foyle go. Since we've got three center prospects, maybe four, Foyle should go...soon. I wouldn't mind Dunleavy going, but the way I see it is, he's here because of BYC1, Mullin loves him like his own kid, we have no small forward backup (again Mullin), and he's had decent games before last year where he shot (a streaky) 44% from the field, 37% from 3-point land and made some nice passes which led to other passes or a direct assist. He's made inside players a tad better because that's where his creativity is best utilized (in '03 he found Dampier quite often when he got touches and got his offensive rhythm going early). He was effective against small forwards like James Posey, but absolutely got torched by swingmen like Joe Johnson and some others who were shooting and driving threats. There's only so much Dunleavy can do to make our point guards better, but our inside players is where I think he has some value at least. I still don't like Dunleavy because excuses just don't work anymore with this guy until he proves himself game to game as a starter. But in all fairness, he did a lot of things that were nice in the college game, but his shot isn't translating to the pros.

I'd also like to see more of Toni Kukoc-lite Zarko Cabarkapa operate from center because he's a much better passer than Troy Murphy and can be a solid scorer at the rim when he drives or when he shoots from the baseline or from the top of the key. He could be a drive and dish center type player and decent shooter that's not over reliant on the three. None of our inside players distribute and they should or else the ball doesn't leave the paint and guards end up taking those long threes without the big dudes setting them up first.

Maybe throw in Biedrins/Zarko lineup or Taft/Diogu. I think Taft should be able to hit the 15 footer like he does free throws (his % in college) and he might look to pass (decent basketball i.q.). All four have good hands.

I don't like throwing away Murphy for nothing, because he's consistent and has the best hands of them all, but he's just not a good starter to balance both ends of the floor and add intangibles. He's way too limited for any other position but power forward. One could argue a case for Murphy at center, but he's not Cwebb, Okur, Brad Miller, Amare, Kurt Thomas. He's Okur without shotblocking and post skills. Although those f/c guys alter a lot more shots or man up on post D or score inside or pass the ball better, I just don't see Murphy improving enough to help the team and protect the paint and get the ball moving or scored at a high %. If Ike can prove himself, I'd like to bump Ike at PF. Throw in one of our four centers (Biedrins, Taft, O'Bryant + either 7'3 foreign guy that can shoot or Zarko) and we might have the same rebounding team as we do now, but more towards offensive rebounding and possibly better defense which will lead to more defensive rebounds.

I think Ike can play some center, but he's not very good at that position. He's not exactly Ben Wallace or Emeka Okafor or Alonzo Mourning in his prime type athletic. He's more like a Danny Fortson or a Mike Sweetney. He'll make impact on the offensive glass. Biedrins could be complimentary if he can stay out of foul trouble and collect both offense and defensive rebounds.

Mullin's also got to get some better perimeter D and abandon this over-reliance on help D the coach has going. We play a weak zone and we play weak man to man coverage and not everyone helps out on defense anyway. It doesn't help when we got weak help D, weak transition D, weak on the ball defenders, only one guy bothers defending the rim and the other guys whose job isn't to guard the rim, end up taking the intentional foul.

We need to get more athletic and we need to get smarter and become shooters. That's a very tall order because we're asking for basically everything. If we don't have superstars we need more balance like the Pistons and Grizzlies do. That means a star in the paint, a star on the outside, defense, offense, some balance. We are too much leaning towards the extreme in scoring, but we don't score in lots of ways. We score in limited ways that can be predicted and also stopped at virtually anytime.

Long story short. If we were to do a run and gun offense, I'd think our offensive rebounding would be lacking because of our poor transition defense. If we try to get back and play defense or maybe pressure on the ball a bit, well... I don't think we'd do a good job holding a lead for very long. The 4th is what troubles the Warriors and it's because their offense isn't kicking in (limited offense), and the Warriors simply aren't playing D, making free throws, doing all these things to win balls games that good teams should do. Unless we play great D, we can't afford to brick these free throws. Warriors guards of all players are missing free throws. A good guard ought to hit at least 3/4's of the free throws per game, especially if they are capable of getting to the line and they get fouled a lot because they are scorers who look to drive. Without Fisher and Murphy, I'm scared for this team's ability to shoot free throws and shoot in general. We just can't seem to find a guy who can shoot and is athletic and powerful enough to finish inside. The cloest is Mickael Pietrus, but the guy is just not trustworthy with the ball or moving off the ball.

If Pietrus could play up to '03 year and not run off at the mouth about more playing time in the 4th and complaining to the French media about guys wasting posessions, maybe he'd be doing better. That's hypocrite karma biting him in the ass. If Pietrus could just improve he might be Ricky Davis or a shawn Marion lite minus the free throw shooting (slightly worse rebounder and shotblocker because of the shortness/weight/dumbness factor).
