I think now is the right time to ask this question. Do you think there will EVER be anyone greater than Michael Jordan? Reading some posts, it's evident they don't want another player to ever exceed Jordan's success and personal achievements. The way I see it is, if Jordan is IT, then the game of basketball is in trouble. Wouldn't you want to see someone better than Jordan and set a new standard among the NBA for greatness? It may not be in 5, 10, 15 years from now (maybe...), but I say there WILL be someone eventually greater than Jordan.

    So Jordan fans (stans),

Point in case: Have an open mind. Don't be offended everytime someone is compared to Jordan. Sometimes, the comparisions are off.....but like I said, he's the consensus GOAT, so it's only natural for people to compare their favorite players and how they stack up to Jordan (only to fall short).

I understand that at this point in their careers, Wade and LeBron aren't close to Jordan's caliber of greatness. But if anyone in this current era of basketball stands a chance at being the next Jordan, how can you not go with one of these two guys?

I think Bron and Wade. Two youngsters who are great already. Both are in like their 4th year now, and are already so good. I say either Wade or Bron are going to be better than Jordan!

Yeah, I think there's definetly going to be someone better than Michael Jordan. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are the closest one to his calibur at the moment now with how young they are. Wade's already got a ring being in a championship team and LeBron James seems like superman with how he plays every night in. We won't find out now if these guys will be greater than Michael Jordan, but in the future we will.

You are the biggest Jordan hater in the world. Both of you

Okay let me rephrase that. LeBron and D-Wade are young. They are great. But you guys are disrespecting history so frickin much. Jesus Christ there are so many good players.

The reason people get annoyed is because people make wild statements about so and so going to become better. Wade and lebron are great but no one has any proof they will even reach jordan's level. At the same time someone in the future could overtake jordan as the best, but he'll still be Jordan becuase they'll only be one.

I meant authentiq. This guy has been attacking Jordan ever since I came here. First with the Shaq vs. Jordan. Then in Jordan's Defense. And now in this thread.

    I just lost it.

Yeh i know.. Just because we think there is someone going to be better than Jordan doesnt mean we are "disresepcting him" or "we hate him".. I love Jordan..but I think that there is going to be someone better than him. Thats all.

Neither have I, yet. But LeBron could end up being better than him, considering the current trajectory he's on.

I mean Mike set so many standards to this game. Everything he did was almost perfect. I just can't see anybody be better. Those stats and the legacy MJ left behind is untouchable.

As great as D-Wade and Lebron James, they will never be better than MJ. Jordan accomplishes everything, except the 3-Point Shooting Contest [IMG] . D-Wade, especially Lebron James who turns down the Slam Dunk competition shows me he's afraid of being a loser, Jordan will never let that happen because of his competitiveness. Something D-Wade has in him but not Lebron James. The best Lebron can become is Magic Johnson. Also don't forget, Jordan did not become the goat because he's a great offensive player. On the defensive end, he was a "force" to be reckon with on the All-Time lists.

It'll happen, it's not if, but when. Think about it, nobody thought there would be a better perimeter player then The Big O, then Dr. J, then Magic, now Mike. This league would be no fun what-so-ever if we've already seen the greatest ever. For now, its MJ, but like it or not Jordan-maniacs, we will see a greater player, somewhere down the road. Maybe its not Lebron or Kobe or Wade, but he's coming...

LeBron is 21. You have to compare where he's at to where Jordan was after three years of college. Great player, but no one considered him the best player in the league till he was around 24 or 25. He got a lot of steals, but at the very beginning of his professional career he wasn't the great defender he'd become 3 or 4 years down the line.

Let's just wait and see what level LeBron is playing at in a couple years.

It's not an impossibility. Everytime there's been a great, people have said no one will surpass them and then someone else comes along to challenge that notion. Also while Jordan is said by many to be the GOAT, it's still quite arguable as to whether Wilt is greater.

We already have Lebron right now so we'll see how that goes.
