<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Felton was considered by many to probably be the best point guard in camp, impressing coaches from around the league with not just his scoring touch, but his ability to lead and make his teammates better. After finishing his rookie season strong in 2005-06, Felton has continued to show that he?s got the swagger and confidence now that can make good players great, and all his tools are magnified. With more confidence entering his second season, it is starting to become obvious that Felton is looking to take his game to the next level.</div>

Why do people always act like every player that is up and coming "deserves respect". It's not like Felton did anything respect worthy and wasn't getting the props for it. People said he was a nice, young talented PG, what else are they supposed to say?

Anyways, it's good to hear, he's a nice player, he'll maybe take Brevin's starting spot if they don't keep the small backcourt next season. Which I guess they won't if they want to start both Morrison and GWallace, but someone will still be playing out of position.

lol @ me "hating" [IMG]. Here's one thing I love, the great my player > your player response. Okay, so what? You see normally this is done to make the other person angry I guess, or something. Sadly I don't get angered or offended by something like this. What if Felton is better than Livingston, am I supposed to be hurt? Does that still justify Felton "deserving respect". Even Felton being "better" is arguable in itself. Livingston did not have the same freedom because he was playing on a 47 win team as opposed to a team with 26 wins and with available shots since players went down. Livingston also had Sam Cassell in front of him, and did not start for 56 games. In addition to that, Livingston did not play 38 MPG after the All-Star break, taking 15 shots a game. Livingston is a better defender, an equal to better passer, and takes care of the ball better. In the same situation, his numbers would look nicer too, due to more minutes and freedom. Actually just going back to 04-05 as a when he was a rookie and starting, his numbers looked nice like that too, but he still had Brand, Simmons, and Maggette. With all that, he's still a year younger than Raymond and had no college experience coming in. But still, why does that matter?

Your example of the rookie 1st team is not good either. Felton was beat on the All-Rookie first team by Chris Paul (obvious), and Deron Williams. Deron beat him by 6 points, he got 4 more first team votes. When you compare their seasons, Deron put up similar (a little lower) numbers playing 2 less MPG, but with much better efficiency (TS%, lower TPG and better A/T ratio). Deron's team was 41-41 in the West with Boozer and AK missing a good amount of games. Felton's team was 26-56 in the East with Emeka and May being MIA, and Wallace having the ticky tack injuries. There isn't a good enough argument either way that you can call it lack of respect for one of them to not make first team, and by such a small margin too.

Lastly, about Felton not making the Rookie/Soph game, pre-All Star, Felton was averaging about 9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 4.5 APG, 37.3% FG, and 32.8% 3PT. The guys that beat him, Head and Deron, because Paul was an obvious one had:
    Head: 8 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 37.9% FG, 36% 3PT
    Deron: 9 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 4 APG, 38.4% FG, 33% 3PT

Again, the numbers are close, I myself thought he should've made it over Luther, but the Rookie/Soph game is not a measuring point for respect, and like I said, he didn't do anything respect worthy. He's not yet putting up special numbers. It's not he was putting up Chris Paul numbers the whole season and no one gave him props, he ended the season well, but he was still on a 26 win team, so that will always overshadow your accomplishments, especially since they're also an expansion team, unless you do something overly spectacular. 12 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 39% FG and 36% 3PT is not overly spectacular. Now if you were to say people didn't give him enough props for how he played for the last 30 games of the season:
16.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 7.6 APG, 2.6 TPG, 41% FG, 39% 3PT, then that's something we can talk about, but he was given props for it at least from people I talked to.

think bigger. an 8th seed is, on paper anyway, looking like the least acceptable spot for this bunch. i really think morrison will come right out of the gate scoring. and the guys who have been there for a couple of years will have more experience under their belt.

Felton was great and there is no question that he can lead the Bobcats over the next few years...If we stay healthy, I think the playoffs could come sooner than expected....and Felton is the Energy, and the catalyst of everything.

    PER 40 minutes:

    Raymond: 7.4 APG - 3.0 TPG
    Shaun: 7.2 APG - 2.9 TPG

Minimal difference, that's why I said equal to better, so we can conclude from that they're equal. A 0.2 difference in APG, and a 0.1 difference in TPG.

Shaun did not have as much freedom because the team was a 47 win team, so Raymond had a little more freedom in terms of his playmaking. In addition to this, Shaun was on the floor with Sam in a good amount of rotations, so he would have to share playmaking. In the few games Cassell did miss, he didn't even play 30+ MPG, because it was at the end of the season and there was no need, Ewing was getting time. Felton was on the floor with Knight, but because Knight missed 13 games, he had a decent amount of games as the primary playmaker.

Just so you guys understand why this actually makes a difference, I'll give you the example. In April when Cassell missed 3 games, came off the bench in two of the games he played, and only played 29 MPG. Livingston put up 5.7 APG and 1.2 TPG for 11 games in 25.4 MPG. Like I said before, his minutes did not change much because Ewing was getting PT, but just the fact that he now became more of a primary playmaker made a huge difference. PER 40 that's 9 APG to 1.9 TPG. Similarly Felton who had Knight only play 4 games in April averaged 9.8 APG, 3 TPG in 40.8 MPG through 9 games. Obviously your best month does not neccesarily replicate your actual ability because it's a limited sample, but you can see how an increased playmaking role affects the numbers. Shaun still had Cassell playing 29 MPG and he only missed 3 games, but just having more of a primary playmaker role when on the floor boosted his numbers. Felton actually had Knight miss 5 games, so of course it gave him a boost, and in April he was kinda just going out and doing his thing, he was also taking 17.4 FGA/G though to score only 17.2 PPG.

Also not to discredit Raymond in any way, but the Bobcats do seem to help there playmakers get nice assist numbers. Jason Hart last season averaged 7.8 AP40 on the Bobcats. This season he was at 3.5 AP40, but he was on Sacramento, and the bigs get to run a lot of stuff, so let's look at back on SA, he had 4.8 AP40. It just seems like such a huge dropoff from being on the Bobcats to not being on the Bobcats. Brevin Knight has always been a good passer, but in 04-05, he had the highest assist rate of his career. His assist PER 40 beat his previous high by almost 2 APG.

So we can see that Bernie's offense caters to playmaking abilities of the PG's in terms of their numbers. After Knight and Felton, no one else averaged even up to 2 APG, which means they were doing all the playmaking. On the Clippers Brand - 2.6, Mobley - 3.0, Radman (30 GP) - 2.1, and Maggette - 2.1 all had good APG numbers after Cassell's 6.4 APG and Livingstons 4.5 APG. Even if you look PER minute wise, you see the same pattern. On the Bobcats, one player averged over 2.5 AP40, Burleson had 5.6 AP40 for 30 games. Bernard was close with 2.4, so we'll count him.

    On the Clippers, Eisley (13 GP) - 8.8 (few games though), Ewing - 3.5, Brand - 2.7, Maggette - 2.8, Mobley - 3.2, Radman (30 GP) - 2.9, McCarty (26 GP) - 2.6

So just food for thought in terms of that. I will conceed though that there's nothing proving that he takes care of the ball better. A 0.1 TPG difference means little, that's like 8 more turnovers during the season, could maybe change a game or two if they were critical turnovers, but not that big.
