Well said, Kwan. Mullin definitely wasn't thinking chess. It's definitely impending doom for us if we stand pat, but something better may pop up during all-star break. I'd hate to get rid of Jason Richardson to remove contracts a la Antwan Jamison. Warriors history would repeat itself though...
No he wasn't thinking chess when he signed Foyle and Dunleavy. He should be thinking chess now. IMO, whoever is the GM, the correct chess move, at this point, is to find a way to dump Foyle/Dunleavy/Murphy for a shorter deal to make room for Beans, Ike, and/or Ellis. The correct move is not to trade away the young talent for a playoff push because IMO the young talent very well could be the playoff push in 2-3 years. Perhaps management can decide which of Ike, Ellis, and Beans is the least promising, and give them up in order to move Foyle. Also, use Taft/Zarko/Pietrus with Murphy to move his deal. Take back similar $$ but fewer years. Then, when and if Ellis / Ike / Beans / POB emerge, there will be some flexibility. IMO This is more important than trying to win now with JRich and Baron, because JRich and Baron are not enough to do anything in the playoffs with the lackluster front court GS has, and the potential for a solid frontcourt lies with Ike, Beans, and/or maybe Taft and POB, not with Harrington or Wilcox.
