Apparently, now every year when they release a new madden, it's a holiday so they named it 'Maddenoliday'. But anyways, anybody gonna get Madden 07 when it comes out? I'm probably going to read the reviews and maybe rent the game to see if I should buy it or not.
Ill get it after 2 or 3 months when the price drops, like always. Theres no use spending 50 bucks on a game when you can get it a lot cheaper if you just wait. Trust me, Im patient

I bought NFL Head Coach, because I loved the idea of being a head coach and watching the action from the sideline and I didn't want to wait on Madden.
I prefered the NFL 2K series, especially their final release NFL 2K5. I don't even like the NFL or American Football and yet that game gripped me and kept me playing for months. I suppose it could be that the game didn't stop as often like in real life because I forced it to move faster. Too bad the NFL license was bought out by faulty EA and their BS. Its the complete reversal by 2K Sports when they bought the MLB license. They should make a trade.
I might get it, I'm not sure. My birthday is the day after it comes out so I might get it then. By the way Ming, how is NFL Head Coach?

The presentation was a beast, it was like you were actually watching a game on ESPN, the gameplay animations were awesome, and the commentators did great saying some funny things, instead of the same old thing every time like John Madden and Al Michaels do in Madden. But Anyway, I might celebrate Maddenonliday on Christmas, . <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">By the way Ming, how is NFL Head Coach?</div> I'll give my input in it. If you're an nfl junkie who doesn't go out much or just looking for a challenge in football games (I've spent 58 hours in this game, but haven't played it lately for the past 3 weeks), other than crushing the computer in Madden by 40 points in all-madden mode every game, this is a game for you. You're going to need a lot of time and dedication to this game, if you're going to want a successful career. You play out every single damn day after the super bowl, interviewing for new jobs, interviewing coaches for their spots, meeting with the owner and getting ready for the draft will probably take an hour away from you. Because I played with the Skins, I wasn't looking forward to the draft, so I didn't really care much for drafting the right guy. Also, if you tend to simulate a lot, it will cause a lot of glitches, such as 0-0 ties, or freezes. Here's a short summary I found over at gamespot, which will help solve your problem. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After week one of the regular season I went to NFL.com to view to stats for the week to see if I was in the top 8 for rushing yards against. When I sorted the teams by rushing / passing yards against, I noticed something suspicious: Two teams had 0 passing and 0 rushing yards against, but they had something around 380 yards against. I don't know how 0 + 0 = 380. As I poked around some more, I looked at the schedule section and noticed that the game between the Bills and the Patriots didn't have a score, but should have been played 3 days earlier. I go to view the boxscore, and it said "This game has yet been played". I went back and looked at the stats, and as expected, the Bills and the Patriots were the teams with 0 passing and rushing yards against. Looking back at the pre-season schedule, I noticed that the Bills never played a pre-season game either. Something was causing the computer to not simulate any of the Bills games. When week two would roll around, 0-0 scores would show up. This is probably the game's way of saying, "Hey, something is wrong here." I restarted my career again. This time I did not simulate a single task. I played through everything. I made a game save during training camp and right before the regular season..... I believed that it was the large periods of simulation that caused the games to not play, as I had never played pre-season or all of training camp up to this point. I my career with no simulation, the Bills did not play their first pre-season game and the 0-0 glitch returned in week 2 of the regular season. This clearly ruled out the simulation as the cause of the glitch. I did, however, stumble across something that was again suspicious. When I looked at the Bills team, some how they had 56/55 players on their roster. I reloaded my game and traded 2 of their players for one of mine to get them down to the maximum of 55 players. I then simulated through the first week of pre-season. As it turns out, the Bills game in fact DID PLAY. I then simulated through week 2 of the regular season, and every game had a score.</div> The glitches do suck, but I've never encountered them besides freezing 2 times. The game will get boring, if you're not dedicated it into somewhat. The office hours are useless and I don't like the fact that I need to schedule time to sign free agents and trade players, when there's a computer and a phone right in front of me during office hours. I think that office hours mean trading players, signing free agents, coaches and all that for next year's game. The draft prep and offseason is terribly too long though The practices are really helpful coming into the next games, getting players prepared and setting money plays, but it shouldn't take 4 hours to run 10 damn plays. They should try to add more slots in for more practices, to get the players even more prepared. When it comes to having weekly meetings with your coordinators/coaches, they can really come in hand at times when you're not paying attention during practice. For example, the DL coordinator will give you a heads you that they might not be ready for the next game. In that case, you could tell him that he'll just have to run with it and you'll have a small trust drop from him, or you can tell him to stay up late at night and do some more work with them in that case you'll have a bigger trust drop, but more knowledge gained. You do wanna keep them happy because if their trust drop gets 0, they'll walk out of the franchise like I had Al Saunders do to me. On the other hand, the WR coach may tell you that they'll be on playing on their best for the next game and so forth. One thing I haven't come across was the players' morale. Coaches in the NFL have to deal with players wanting more playing time and so forth, but I haven't come across that like I did in Madden '06. But for player motivation, I've really found that to become random. Like, Brunell, he'll throw a 50 yard TD and when I give him a compliment, he takes it as a negative. Those who played the game, will know what I'm talking about. As for playing the game can be a real puzzle, trying to find what works in that 1st quarter. Some people complain about the 5 minute quarters, but I think it's just fine because I'm able to get realistic numbers of plays and get realistic stat numbers each game I play. The only negative thing about it is that, there's no really a 2 minute strategy game here. You can just run off the clock in the 4th quarter with 1 possession. Another thing they should've added was a pre-game meeting with the team or a halftime talk/adjustments, so you can have more time strategizing with certain players and groups. As for the actual gameplay, the players aren't the smartest. Mark Brunell manages to throw at least 1 interception, each game....3 when I played preseason, it's something you need to keep an eye of, for presnap adjustments, so you'll want him to throw to a specific player or area, or tell him what to do in some situations like when they blitz or whatever. You can do the same with every group of players when they're on the sideline, for the WR's you can tell them where to run, how much seperation you want, or for the RB's you can tell them to let the OL make a hole for you, or try to bust your way through or around the OL, that's a key aspect to the game. Anyway, if you're wondering to get this game, but don't want to fork over 40 bucks, I suggest you rent it for yourself. -------------------------------- Update 8/11/06: Well, currently I'm 13-2 with the Redskins with my last game to go against the Giants, but I haven't played it in a while, but I'll try to invest some time into soon. Well, I hope you guys enjoyed my review.
Very nicely written Ming637. It seems to me like a game only hardcore football fans will like. I don't know, I might give it a try, but I think I'll just stick towards something a bit simpler, like Madden. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ming637:</div><div class="quote_post">But for player motivation, I've really found that to become random. After every week, a player comes into your office to talk to you, and you have to pick something to respond to. But just like you said, it's really random. I could give them a compliment, and it will be the wrong thing the player will want to hear. I could give them criticism, right after they score 50 points, and it could be the right thing to hear. To me, it just seems like a gamble. Pick one, and maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong.

You can always download the demo, play a game, run a practice, and run career mode through the draft to see if you like it. Here's the download link: http://www.fileplanet.com/164579/160000/fi...Head-Coach-Demo or If you want more to try out more in-depth of the game, I suggest you rent it first.

Pickin' it up Tuesday. I wasn't going to get it at first, but after reading a whole bunch of reviews. I'm going to pre-order on Best Buy and pick it up in stores. Can't wait to get this baby on my 360.
If you wanna buy Madden, buy it at Circuit City. They're having a 12 dollar sale, so for ps2 and xbox, it's 37.99. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Video-Games...categorylist.do I canceled my order from gamestop to get it from Circuit City.
Yup, getting Madden 07 for my PS2. I can't wait. I'm not that into football or know much about it, I just like the game. Basically that and Live are what I need all year and I'm good.
