Don't care where you're from, what you've seen, or what you've heard, Philadelphia has the most passionate fans in the country. Don't know where else you'll see the entire stadium crying their eyes out after we beat the Falcons in the NFC Championship game. This says it all, yes, I cried too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post">as for hockey, sorry canada, i think minnesota wins. People are CRAZY about their hockey here. Ever since we got the wild, things are bananas at the excel</div> right...Hockey is everything to Canadian hockey fans, especially the eastern teams. You don`t even know how bizarre it is.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> as for hockey, sorry canada, i think minnesota wins. People are CRAZY about their hockey here. Ever since we got the wild, things are bananas at the excel </div> Are you kidding me......... You know how you think people are "CRAZY" about hockey in Minnesota? Multiply that by 3489730598704395837 and you still won't get close to how passionate some fans here are. If any of the Canadian teams won the cup, all hell would broke loose. I can't imagine Toronto if the Leafs won the cup, that'd be a sight to see. Have you seen the city when it's a Leafs vs. Senators playoff game? Wow. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Knicks fans are trash, and so is their team. I am guessing you're saying that either because you are a Knicks Fan, or you know of Madison Square Garden which is pretty famous.. But Knicks SUCK! </div> What the hell? How are Knicks fans trash? New York fans are really passionate from what I've seen, met and heard. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Raptors have one of the biggest fan bases and the fans are very passionate. It would help though if we were a winning team so everyone else can see </div> Agreed. To any one that doubts the Toronto fan base and makes idiotic comments like "Toronto should be moved" (ESPN), you should realize that we are always near the top of the attendance lists despite 4 straight losing seasons. Hockey is obviously #1, but the Raptors have fans that are passionate as well. If the Raptors started winning, you should see this city. If you saw how excited the entire city (and perhaps even the whole country) was when the Raptors were facing Philly in 2001, you would realize how passionate Raptors fans are. In fact, people were honking and celebrating like crazy in bars when the Raptors won thier first playoff GAME. I remember recording that stuff on CP24 when it came on, people were going nuts.
you guys wouldnt understand hockey in minnesota. So many high school guys go d 1 from minny its not even funny. Remember the 2 peat that minny got in college hockey?????
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting P.A.P.:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes we know they suck, but it`s quite obvious that Knick fans are very passionate about their team. Do you know the meaning of the word passion? Because what you`re talking about right now has no relevance to MrJ saying that Knicks fans are the most passionate.</div> yes i do know what passionate means. I am not slow. People like knicks mainly because of madison square garden, the most famous arena of the world. So what I am saying is that people like Knicks because of their arena.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> you guys wouldnt understand hockey in minnesota. So many high school guys go d 1 from minny its not even funny. Remember the 2 peat that minny got in college hockey????? </div> But how does high school guys going D1 translate to fan passion? If you come to stay at a place like Calgary or Edmonton for a year (I'm too used to living in the GTA to move though), you'll see how into the games these people get. Although the city I live in is more diverse and is filled with people wanting to play soccer, basketball and hockey, when I was younger and the city was less diverse, hockey ruled everything. Hockey is still #1, and will always be in Canada, but the diversity in Toronto has other sports catching up slowly too (doesn't mean they ever will). Only in Toronto though. Cities like Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, I always expect hockey to be #1, since I believe none of them have the diversity nor the population of Toronto. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> yes i do know what passionate means. I think you're trying to say a lot of Knicks fans are bandwagon fans. I wouldn't agree. If thier fans can storm into the draft chanting "Sell the Knicks" and "Fire Isiah Thomas", they obviously care. For bandwagon fans, I'd say Lakers or Heat fans take the cake (not saying people on this board are bandwagon fans but I've seen enough people just "became fans" of the Lakers because they were up 3-1 or for the Heat because they beat Detriot) I especially hated chicks that became fans of the Heat as soon as they thought Dwyane Wade was hot.
^^Umm high school talent has everything to do with it. If we have that many people working that hard to play the sport, how much do you think they will follow the pro team?? plus you failed to mention our inventing of the riot after a championship! (ok we didnt invetn it, but helped it make a comeback)
I would probably say the Knicks. They haven't had success as of late, but still they have tons of fans all around the country and they have a couple hardcore fans. Example- Spike Lee. Down here in Miami, you got both. Theres alot of crazy Heat fans that have been fans from the start, .....and then you got the people that are fans just because Shaq came.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post">as for hockey, sorry canada, i think minnesota wins. People are CRAZY about their hockey here. Ever since we got the wild, things are bananas at the excel</div> I'm sorry, this can't be excused. Hockey in Canada is the equivalent of football in America or soccer in Europe. Not only is it the national sport, it's crammed down your throat by the media. Every level, too. OHL games (the equivalent of college hockey, I guess) gets just as much, if not more, press as basketball. And the atmosphere in Minnesota is nothing like that of a Calgary or Edmonton (especially during the playoffs). I seriously doubt you guys had 24 hour coverage of the NHL lockout a couple years ago. As for the original question, I'd have to agree with New York. They have two teams for every major sport (soon to be for basketball), and none of them have attendance problems. The support and media coverage out there is huge. And the rivalries between teams that really aren't that far away from each other is pretty amazing. It's just a great atmosphere for a sports fan. btw, Philly fans are mean. They snowballed Santa!

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> ^^why do you keep ignoring the riot thing. We went CRAZY because everyone here likes hockey </div> There is a reason why Canada is known for hockey more then anything. When Edmonton was going for that cup, practically the entire country was rooting for them to win. Even people I knew that didn't even watch hockey were into it and supporting them. I don't know how to exactly explain to you what hockey means in Canada and to hardcore hockey fans...but I hope you understand how much it obviously must mean when 2 of the three major sports channels do somehting like devote atleast 15 minutes of a half an hour show to discuss/analyze the HOCKEY LOCKOUT of all the things. And this was everyday the lockout existed. And one of the channels even counted down all of the days as well.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd say knicks fans as well. FreshPrince just so you know, most of the best young hockey players go to the juniors in Canada. D1 isn't the first choice for many of the top players. Back on topic, I gotta agree that Philly fans are nuts. I've never seen anything like their last NFC Championship game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting M Two One:</div><div class="quote_post">This thread is all biased BS. What a load of crap.</div> True, almost everyone is gonna pick thier team's fans.

We have one of the best home attendences and were 23-59. Please do yourself a favor and think before you post. Alright? Every Knick fan is still onboard, even considering last season.
