http://www.knbr.com/news.html Well, he's a good guy, but from a sports fan perspective, I can't say I'll miss his voice on KNBR. Who knows what job he'll have next? NBA coach? Perhaps if he can do the things that are necessary in order to put himself in a position to be successful at making something happen and these types of things -- you know, I mean if he can go ahead and put forth the effort required to go ahead and do some things at the NBA level and put himself in a position to go ahead and maximize the available talent, and be consistent at doing the types of things that are necessary to be able to go ahead and give yourself a chance to be able to be successful at what it is that makes a coach successfull in the National Basketball Association -- who knows, he just very well may give himself a chance to be successful as a coach in the National Basketball Association and do the types of things -- you know, I mean to be exactly specific, those types of good things that equate to good coaching, and do the types of things that a good coach does, and go ahead and put himself in a position, to be specific, where he'll have a chance to encounter success at the NBA level by taking care of things at the offensive and defensive ends of the basketball court.
Yeah, he was bit too rigid for a talkshow host. I wonder exactly what happened though. Since, KNBR said they will find a replacement in next few weeks, I don't think this firing/resigning was planned. Maybe, they will bring Fitz back or something...
It does looks like Fitz will be back. After all, Fitz left KNBR because of the conflict with previous owner...

My guess is that we'll probably see the HoFer pop up somewhere else soon.

http://www.insidebayarea.com/portlet/artic...article=4182918 Got that link from WW. Doesn't feel like it was a messy break up at all. Barry was thinking about leaving and KNBR also planned another host after Barry's contract ran out. After all, Barry is 62 years old (he looks really good for his age), and he can get free golfs anyday he wants. And, because Fitz may replace him, KNBR won't be dominated by all Giants talk...
Yeah, I always enjoyed listening them (it has been more than 5 years???) and I am looking forward to their reunion again...
I never listened to Barry on the radio, but he used to do commentary all the time on national tv (even while he was a player). I thought he did pretty well on those. Is he really that long-winded? Is it worse than Bill Walton?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">Is he really that long-winded? Is it worse than Bill Walton?</div> Yes. Walton actually gives you something concrete, despite his verbosity. Barry? Here's an example: Caller: "Rick, plain and simple dude, yes or no question: will the Warriors win tonight?" Barry: "Okay Jim in Milpitas, let me give you a clear, straight answer. If the Warriors show up to the arena tonight and come to the game ready to play for 48 minutes, and if they can go ahead and step onto the court and do the types of things that good basketball teams do..." Caller: "Like what?..." Barry: "Don't interrput me, I'm trying to tell you if you'll just listen. If all twelve guys can go ahead and show up ready to play and be willing to do the types of things that are necessary in order to put yourself in a position to go ahead and win some basketball games, and if the coach can find a way to maximize the available talent on his roster and put his players in a position which gives them the best possible chance of having success in the National Basketball Association, and if the players can do the necessary things at the offensive end of the basketball court and take care of things at the defensive end of the basketball court, then I would have to say that if they can do these things the Warriors will have a chance to go ahead and possibly be in a position where they might give themselves a chance to have success tonight." Caller: "I should have taken my answer off the air."
Wow, Fitz coming back to KNBR? That's awesome, I had not even thought that would be possible. He went perhaps a bit too far with his comments but he shouldn't have been fired over it. I wonder how Felipe will feel about Fitz returning so soon. I won't miss Barry at all and I wouldn't cry if Brooks went either. Barry was just too dry, he put me to sleep many times (I love your impression of him AlleyOpp). Rod seems to talk a lot, and yet has very little to say, and I don't think he's nearly as funny as he thinks he is. Seems like a nice guy but the 12-3 slot has been a black hole on KNBR that I have actively tried to avoid for these past years. Time to shake it up.

Any time the show is just as annoying as those viagra ads, vehicle donation ads, and "we'll do your loan for free" ads (you know what I'm talking about), there must be a programming problem. I wish they'd hire Michael Irvin full time. That guy is solid radio. Fitz will be great too.

Also, I hated all the Warriors commercials, especially the ones with Mike Montgomery and the ones hyping up the Warriors postseason chances. Montgomery is just not a PR type of guy, but I'm sure he knew the team sucked way before Mullin did. LOL. Mully thought Foyle, Fish would get Dun, Murphy, Jrich into the postseason in '04. And '05 was the same damn team minus Fish until Fish went back in because Baron went down. And now as we go into year '06-'07 we have the same damn team yet again minus Fisher.

If Fitz comes back, I would be shocked if he doesn't get paired with Brooks. I wonder if Fitz will take the gig though. Unlike last time, he is now announcing other sports. I don't know if he can do all announcings and do daily talkshow at the same time...
Yeah that's a lot, especially with Warrior Roundtable and telecasts -- maybe he'll do part time alongside Brooks - 3 days a weeK? Who knows, but right now pretty much anything will be an upgrade over the hall of famer.
