<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets' bench transformation soon will be complete. Two more pieces, guard Eddie House and center Mile Ilic, are on the verge of becoming official.
The Nets have gotten younger and they've gotten more athletic.

"It's an area we wanted to address and we have," GM Ed Stefanski said. "I go back to draft night. I'm excited about the three rookies: Marcus Williams, Josh Boone and Hassan Adams. They are from the highest-level programs at UConn and Arizona. Yes, they're young but they've already played in big-game situations. In Ilic's case, he's been playing at a professional level in Europe."

Ilic is expected to officially join in September after the World Championships are complete. House will formally sign this week after choosing the Nets' offer of one year and $1.4 million on Friday. House will take a physical shortly and is expected to be signed by the end of the week.

"Eddie is going to sign with the Nets," said House's agent, Mark Bartelstein. "We think it's a great fit."

House is the veteran shooter the Nets have sought, an instant-offense type. Along with Cliff Robinson and Mikki Moore, he represents the experience among the reserves, who also include second-year man Antoine Wright and relatively game-inexperienced Bostjan Nachbar. So there will be six new faces for the bench, including Ilic.

"We've gotten younger and I'm excited about that," said Stefanski, who would not comment on House because he's not officially signed.</div>

Much? You mean you had no scoring off the bench, there was only Uncle Cliff, and that's not reliable scoring, that's catch and shoot jumpers once in a while.

Our bench is young but it's better than what we had the last couple of seasons. If our young team blossoms early we will be a much deadlier team and I expect good things this season. I just can't wait already for the season opener.

I must agree with og15. We at least HAVE a bench this season, it was basically non-existent last year. The past few moves have made me change my mind for the better about management's motives, but we still need that one big man that could take this team over the top.

I know, I always pitied Jersey when I saw them go to the bench, probably the most offensively inept bench in the league last season. Even if no one improves, and Kidd-Carter and Jefferson play exactly like they did last season, just the bench improvment should give the team more wins and make them quite better.
