<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">KUNSHAN, China -- Yao Ming scored the game-winner and finished with 21 points Tuesday to lift China past Australia, 63-61, in its final exhibition before the World Championships.

Andrew Bogut's jam tied the game at 61, but he missed a free throw and a chance to take the lead. China took possession with 15 seconds left and Yao scored the winning basket.

The game turned into a battle between Yao and Bogut, the Milwaukee Bucks' No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft, who scored 20 points. Yao seemed to get the better of most of their exchanges, with Australia grabbing only 12 rebounds in the first half to China's 23.

With the return of guard Liu Wei, China was able to play with its full complement of stars. Liu, who had a tryout with the Sacramento Kings in 2004, had 10 points. Wang Zhizhi, China's first player in the NBA, added nine.

China won its first game in four exhibition appearances at home this month. The Chinese team lost to the United States, Germany and Brazil.

The game was played in a packed gymnasium just outside Yao's hometown, Shanghai.</div>

Well, TimmyDMVP.. he had a broken foot, and many sources say that this week should be his first back. . He's played 2 games already. I'm a little worried Yao's gotten less hungry, but I'm sure he'll be back. Best he gets warmed up with China, and lets loose on the NBA!

I was just going to say, Andrew Bogut was matched up against Yao, how much bigger do you need to be?

Anyways, nice to see Yao's getting back into shape. The World Championships would be a good tune-up for him after such a long absence; hopefully he could lead the Chinese team out of Round Robin play.

this is great... but we cant judge him by one game... we'll see in the next few weeks

    Yao Ming had a double-double for 24 minutes of play..... 21 points (61.5% (8/13) FG%, 83.3% (5/6) FT%), 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 4 assists, 2 turnovers.....and 4 fouls.

    Great game.

Any one know what time (please state time zone) China's next game is? Or are there no more warm up games?

If he gave that for 20 minutes in NBA. Id go and buy him a gift. He needs to bring his turnovers down, but 4 steals kind of makes up for it.

One assist? I mean, even though your Greek teammates suck, in a game that the team scored 84 points, Spanouliss had only one assist? Don't mean to be a pessimist here, but one assist in 20 minute is quite inexcuseable.

True it is very bad with the assist turnover ratio, but you have to think about what position the Rockets are going to put him in. Rafer Alston is going to take 35 of the 48 minutes max at point gaurd. So when Vspan gets on the court, you might see Tmac bring the ball up.

You also have to look at it this way Locke, Vspan doesn't play point gaurd with the majority of his minutes for the Greek team. He plays more of the 2 gaurd in these prelim games.

Inexcusable maybe, but like TmacGarnett said, he was playing the off guard most of the time. I saw him penetrate and dish well, his teammates just weren't putting the ball in the basket. Though, when they did, it wasn't always from his pass (1 assist is a bit odd, I'm sure I saw them hit more than 1 from him. .)

One thing Span did so well was control tempo. When he was in the game, Greece played better, anyone who watched the entire game will agree.

In international Basketball assists Count only when the player that receives
The ball shoots exactly at the time he gets it...It's different from the nba.........

P.S : His Teammates do not Suck at all...

Really. So even if the player you're passing to is already on the run and he takes two steps and lays the ball in, it won't count as an assist? The things you learn everyday...

Anyways, thanks, and welcome to JBB!
