What do you guys think about this? I recently read the Sixers are shopping him and I saw him on the Best Damn Sports Show saying he would love to play with the Lakers. I think he can be a solid backup for Kwame or maybe even a starter. He seems like he would be perfect for the triangle, he's able to hit the midrange, and he can still rebound albeit his athletic talents are not half of what they were in Sacramento. Does anyone think we can land him?
Webber is making $20M a season for the next two years. This means the Lakers would have to trade Odom + fillers, OR completely dismantle their roster to make this deal possible. The only other alternative would be getting a third team involved with a trade exception. I'm not sure I'd want Webber on the Lakers roster becaue he can no longer defend his position. He'd be a downgrade at PF, since the Lakers plan on playing Odom at PF next season. At this point in their careers, Odom is the superior player.
wow... I thought he'd be a bargain... didnt know he was making that much... yeah he's overpaid and over the hill in NBA years.
I like C-Web when he was in Sacramento. Now? nah, he's old and can't stay up with fast player on defense. The chance of landing him is impossible to none because of his contract.
Webber is old, slow, weak, and plays on one leg while making 20 million dollars a year. He is also very injury prone, and will most likely miss a ton of games next season. This isn't the Sacramento Chris Webber we are talking about. This Chris Webber is only a shell of his former self. If we get Webber, then we will most likely have one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
Why is every seemingly-eligible-to-be-traded player always linked with the Lakers, even if the deal wouldn't make any sense whatsoever to them?
^ I realize that, but is there really a possibility of EVERY "big name" player in the league coming to the Lakers (as all these articles would suggest)? And realistically, why would L.A want C-Webb in the first place when they already set up a core and in order to get him they'd have to break up that core?
C-Webb gets more money then Kobe. I think that say's it all. He's old and not worth the money. Odom has more value and is a better power forward than Webber.
yea it doesnt make sence to get webber, anyway i think the only team that can actually get him would be nwe york, unless the bobcats want him
The day I saw Kwame Brown drop 30 and 19 on Chris Webber was the day I said to myself that I never want Chris Webber to be on one of my teams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Flashback:</div><div class="quote_post">I'll pass... next rumor please...</div> Alright, here goes: Is there a chance Kupchak pulls the trigger on a trade with Chicago and who would be involved? What about (I'm pro trading Lamar) Lamar and Chris Mihm for Ben Gordon and Luol Deng?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Moo2K4:</div><div class="quote_post">I truly hope you're joking.</div> Agreed. We have no real need for them, we'd lose our starting PF (who was beginning to turn the corner last year) to get a SG and something we already have plenty of, a SF.

Gordon and Luol Deng would be a steal for the Lakers for Mihm and Odom.
No your'e basically giving up an injury prone, lanky center and Odom (he is great but doesn't fit in for the Lakers) for two young talented players one will be an allstar within two years and the other is a versatile big that can play the 3 or some four against a team like the Suns... I know we'd be giving up rebounding in Odom but we can address that throught the free agency it doesn't take a lot of skill to be a rebounder its the most basic skill in bball (just look at dennis rodman he made a career out of that one talent alone) plus we wouldn't be giving up defense seeing how Lamar is always getting in foul trouble and Mihm is a great shot blocker when he's not injured. Both Deng and Gordon are solid defenders and for his veteran status what has Lamar done he is isn't there in clutch situations and he hasn't improved (only showed signs of greatness in Miami when nothing was expected of him... he doesn't like to be in pressure situations he's uber laidback from all that kush). Deng is awesome and Gordon is going to be an all star... This won't get done because its too risky but in my eyes its the safest bet with those two.
