The StarTribune today reported that early next week Tice would be let go. I gotta say, a big part of me hopes this does not happen.

Don't get me wrong - I don't think Tice is the best coach in the league. I really don't like some of the things he has done - but I also don't think he is getting a fair chance. Tice was brought in on the cheap, kept on the cheap, and given practically no money to work with in the long-term for a decent staff. He has shown flashes of being able to coach well. Every year, the players have a stretch of 6 or so games where they come to the games prepared. I really think this year Tice was able to grow as a coach and learn a little bit more.

The reason I am against bringing in a new coach is that it will be at least 2 years before we can even consider making a serious run at the playoffs. A new coach means new schemes, which means time to adjust by the players. In two years time the complexion of the team will change dramatically. Anyone who has watched this team knows that we are just a few pieces away from being a contender.

Unless we are able to bring in some superstar coach, I really do not want to see us change leads until we are definitely in rebuilding mode...

I am certain we can add Martz to the list and probably Norv Turner.

If thats the case then the only to keep Favre around another year would be bringing in Mooch. I could definatly handle the Bates and Mooch combo though!

Tice is officially gone according to ESPN, tough break, I think he did well considering all the crap he had to put up with this season.

Also Sherman is said to be gone within the next 24 hours, Welcome to the rebuilding phase Packers ughh

I don't think it matters. Favre would is retiring either way. Maybe if we hire Mooch he'll stay. Either way though I'd like for Green Bay to hire Mooch. Him and Bates would be a nice combo at calling plays.
