Yesterday, there was this huge storm near my house and I got an instant alert thing from my school saying that it was struck by lightning and the fire alarms, phones, and power is all out. So school was canceled today!
When my school gets canceled because of a snow storm or something like that, the last day of school gets extended one more day, and if it happens again another day... it's awesome if they don't have that rule though.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Run BJM:</div><div class="quote_post">Reminds me of the time in 7th grade when someone sent a bomb threat to my school.</div> I had this same issue when I was in 8th grade way back. The faculty had evacuated the entire school and they had the bomb squad arrive. It took three hours, but it was all a hoax naturally. Thankfully really that's some BS.

I remember when I was still in elementary school, there was a rapist or something around our neighbourhood.
When I was in high school, it was I believe 3 days before they extended the year. On a side note, I remember my 8th grade graduation, we had three funnel clouds above our school. All the power was out. The school was pitch black in a lot of the parts. We ended up sitting down in the hall next to the downstairs locker rooms for about 3 hours. The ironic thing about this entire situation is that we were going to watch Twister that day in science class. Fast forward 4 years to 2004 for my actual graduation, similar situation. While we didn't lose power, we still had funnel clouds above our school once again. Talk about jynxed. One last thing, my junior year we had a bomb threat. The extent of it however, was someone putting a sign that said "Bomb" on it in one of the elementary bathrooms. Didn't take any precautions though. Evacuated the school and went to the bus barns for about 2 hours.

Last year we had a threat about a shooting at my school. It didnt close down because none of the staff thought much of it, but a lot of people didnt go that day. Nothing ended up happening

The worst part is, our school made us go to school. More then half the school didn't show up, everyone was completely paranoid, it was bad.

Not really as depressing as everyone elses story, but, back in Grade 9, me and a couple of friends got into class early once and started playing backpack football (don't ask). One dude threw it too high and the strap got caught on a sprinkler and pulled the whole thing down. Apparently it's wired to the rest of wing, because all the sprinklers started to go off and the entire school had to be cleared out. That whole wing of the school got flooded, but I got off school for a couple days. Also, it was a couple days before Winter break and I had to make a presentation that day. So I ended up having another 2 weeks to finish it.
The guy that actually threw the bag got slapped with a week suspension, if I remember correctly. The rest of us got off with just a trip to the office. Of course, they began locking all the doors so that students couldn't get early from that day on.
