Why? 1) They won 6 in a row to close out the year 2) Offense starting to gel 3) Aggressive D lead AFC if not league in sacks 4) Good mix of youth and veterans 5) They have an Offensive scheme - finally 6) a head coach & personnel guy (Mueller) w/ vision and brains
i gotta admit i will, they seem to have pulled it together and i think if they were in teh NFC they would have had a good chance to get into the playoffs, it kinda annoys me too cause if they stayed sucky then maybe the Jets would have had a worse strength of schedule and that woulda helped them in the draft, bastards
Saban is a genius! He started the season with only 4 starters from the 2005 season. He brought in both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams into the system so both will get equal time. He had to work completely on nothing but pieces of puzzles (medicore QB, holes in the defense, running back situation), and put them together and led a 2-14 team to a 9-7 season. That's an impressive thing to do for a coach in his first year.
I am truly impressed in the job Nick Saban did in one year. All Miami needs is a QB and maybe some depth at CB and they could be a playoff team
got to say a great year for the phins. Never thought they would be 9-7 to close the year. Pending what they do at QB is where they'll stand next year. Starting a rookie like Cutler could set the team back a year.
If they have a awesome draft day then yes, they could be a top 10 team but if they don't, well crap for them. Haveing a 9-7 record sucks because your not for real and it's not enough to get a great player sometimes. Miami's defence will not be as good next year -- they're too old but if they can persevere then they might win the AFC East next year assumeing the other AFC East teams don't improve too much.
ehhh it's not about having a good draft. Having a good draft sets you up for the future not the following season. Example Packers. Solid draft actually pending Rodgers and they end up 4-12. If Miami can land a couple key guys to help them out they could contend with New England and take the divsion.

Traylor (age 36) probably won't be back nor will Seau. Madsion too believes he's played game as a phin. New England will be competitive as long as Brady & Belicheck are there. The jets will bounce back. It could be problematic if Herm leaves for KC.
