Get it started people: Rock4Life vs. Baka vs. antonyo09 vs. Mr. Taz

The topic is: Should the Rockets have picked Jordan instead of Hakeem in 84'??

If the rockets could rewrite history and go back to that draft, Its hard to argue that they wouldn't pick Jordan this time. It's tough because hakeem is one of the top players and centers of all-time. Dominating on defense ( all-time leader in blocks) and was one of the quickest/mobile centers of all-time. Jordan is titled by many as the greatest to ever play with his unmatched skill in his jumpshot along with his ability to finish above the rim, all while playing top defense and having an unmatched will to win. Both these all-timers are already in-bedded in history as two of the greatest, but I think Jordan would be the pick if we had the chance to re-pick that draft.

Jordan is the better scorer hands down imo, he could basically score from almost anywhere, as well as jump over the defense, but hakeem is also a great scorer, with the best footwork of a bigman ever, but I think it goes to MJ. Defense is close, mj was a gritty perimeter defender, while hakeem is #1 in total blocks, and was a defensive stalwart in the paint. MJ was a theif, putting up 2 and numerous times 3 spg. While Hakeem had 1 or close to 2 spg which is great for a bigman. While both were great and versatile for their positions I go with Jordan.

O.O; I just realized I read the question wrong LOL. I thought it meant if we could redo it, I was too excited [IMG]

In that case, I think the rockets made the safer choice out of the two, and it turned out great, like I stated before, Hakeem was one of the greatest bigmen of all-time, with his footwork, mobility for his size and his pumpfakes. I can't really answer the question well because I wasn't near to being born when this well known draft occured. I just know that it turned out great for the rockets, and got them 2 championships. Like I said I don't know tooo much of this draft since I wasn't born yet, but all I know is...atleast we didn't pick sam boey.
