<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Press Release - After months of speculation and rumors of retirement, Doug Christie has officially announced his intentions of returning to play in the NBA. Spending months undergoing intense rehabilitation and conditioning has put Christie in fantastic shape and made him eager to join an NBA team at their 2006 training camp. During a recent interview, Christie commented that, ?I am blessed to now have gained endurance, agility and quickness at a level that I had not previously experienced.? Christie, a first Team and a two time All Defensive Second Team member who has over 1,500 career steals, 3,000 assists and 2,500 defensive rebounds, is a defensive force, which has sports gurus around the league agreeing that his presence on the court has been sorely missed and that whichever team is successful in signing him will benefit greatly from his veteran leadership and versatility. Drafted by the Seattle Supersonics in the first round of the 1992 NBA Draft, Christie has played in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Dallas and Sacramento where he enjoyed much success.</div>http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._return_to_nba/ What team could use Doug Christie's defense? Off the top of my head, I would say a team like Miami could use his defense...
I wouldn't mind seeing on the Heat since I'm assuming he'll be signing for the minimum. We've missed a player like Christie since EJ got traded, coupled with Posey's various injuries. Though, I'm a bit skeptical on his ankles and how long he will last at 36. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">“I am blessed to now have gained endurance, agility and quickness at a level that I had not previously experienced.” </div> That comment seems kind of iffy to me.
Dc 13 this is kind'a old news, he said he was going to make a comeback a few months ago. i think he's been through too many injuries and he's too old to be of any use to a team. maybe for defense off the bench but that's about it. I like doug he was one of my favorite players, i remember when he clocked rick fox .
I just didn't believe him, I mean he's an old man, but obviously he'd only be used for defense off the bench, I can't think of anything else you could use him for.
I think he'd be a good fit in Chicago. He plays defense, making him a Skiles player right there. And he'd be good for the young guys, bringing some veteran leadership the team, along with some good defense.
Depends on what Doug Christie is coming back for? Money? A ring? I think a team like Toronto could use a wing defender but they probably don't want to pay more than the minimum. Pistons could use a back up for Tayshaun (not too sure on their depth at G-F)
i think he whould be a good fit with the sonics they have no D and plus he is from seattle....but then agian are they still going to be playing there
Christie can still be a factor of the bench for defensive purposes. Chicago wouldn't be a bad place for him. Chicago will have defensive presence both inside and out. Christie is still good for a few baskets here and there. Another team I can think of is Dallas. Why not? Dallas may need him against Wade next season.
I just read this comment: Christie, a first Team and a two time All Defensive Second Team member who has over 1,500 career steals, 3,000 assists and 2,500 defensive rebounds, is a defensive force, which has sports gurus around the league agreeing that his presence on the court has been sorely missed and that whichever team is successful in signing him will benefit greatly from his veteran leadership and versatility. "Sports gurus in the league agree his presence is sorely missed" ? I completely forgot the guy even existed! "And whichever team is <font color=""Navy"">successful in signing him</font>" ?? He'd be lucky to be signed by a team! "Will benefit greatly from his veteran leadership and versatility" ??? I doubt any team will "greatly" benefit from Doug Christie, and what will the younger players learn from his veteran experience, why they shouldn't let their wives wear the pants in the relationship? Sounds like the Christie camp paid this writer lol
I think his wife wrote it, and I doubt he's coming back for money unless he's stupid, no one is going to give him more than peanuts.
^yup. Ithink this is an actual desire to play the game. And as was said, he'll bring some defensive presence, but that's aBOUT IT.

So don't come here throwing a hissy fit when any knowledgable NBA fan knows that he is not the same player he once was. And if he is, he won't get you starter minutes/production, and it won't last for very long cuz he'll get injured again. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he will be highly coveted by many teams...</div>I'm sure he will, cuz every team is in the market for low-risk high reward player, but I can't imagine any team looking to dish out more than a vet's minimum, or it being a team he would want to go to. And at the end of the day, a low-risk high reward player is just that; chances are he won't pan out to be contributer. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">and stop talking about his wife who cares about his personal life.</div>Jackie Christie is that you?

w/e, I didn't say the guy was a nobody, obviously he was a good player in his prime. All I did was state the truth. He's not the same player he once was and just knocking on the writer of the article for over-exagerating.

There's a few teams Christie could make a difference on. I'd say Utah could benefit from Christie's presence on the court. He'd be a great mentor for Ronnie Brewer and plays the hard nose defense Sloan expects from his players. He compliments Fisher off the bench as well. Christie has better playmaking skills than Fisher, and Fisher can do what he does best by playing off the ball and hitting spot up shots.
The Lakers could use him to backup Kobe..........ha ha lmao!!!!! That would be something, as many yrs. as he had battling L.A. trying to get a ring and then he says f-it cant beat em might as well join em!! Naw but reall, I think quite a few teams could use his defense but is he really in shape & healthy like he was before??
