Not only that, I learned that, you know, from dealing with the first two guys, I may have made some mistakes in the way I dealt with those guys. We'll never know, but I looked at the mistakes I made with those guys and I didn't want to do it with him. Like, when I was with Penny, we were both young guys and since everybody was going to put the pressure on me, we're going to do it my way. Period. You don't like it? Forget you. The same thing when I went to L.A. Now that I'm much older and I got a younger guy, and I see that the other two guys didn't really like the yelling and took it personal, so I never yelled at D-Wade. And it probably was the best move I ever made, because he's the first other superstar where we're best friends. The other two, we never hung out. We never talked. We just never did anything ... ever. </div> http://www.nba.com/features/shaq_060821.html Interesting interview to read all the way around. Shaq seems much more mature about the past teammates subject as well as everything else that's thrown at him.
lmfao at the way he refers to the "other two guys" Doesn't mention the name "Kobe" at all. SHaq cracks me up man: NBA.com: What about Dwyane Wade's ascension to being maybe the best player in the league? Shaq: I kept pumping him up. "This is your team. You gotta go to the rack. Quit shooting jumpers. We need you. Let's go. I love you. Meet me at 10 o'clock and I'll show you something." LOLLL
^^ He said Kobe's name in the interview, just not at the point where he said he had maybe dealt with them wrongly or whatever. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I told him. I said, "Look man, they talk about Kobe and T-Mac and all that. That's where I want you to be next year. When they talk about those guys, I want them to say 'and D-Wade.' Not 'Kobe, T-Mac, Carmelo, LeBron and that's it.' Your name has got to be in those five. No. 1, 2 or 3 at worst. You gotta be up there." </div>
Shaq: I kept pumping him up. You gotta go to the rack. Let's go. I love you. Meet me at 10 o'clock and I'll show you something." Odd
I like Shaq(his humour) but it's so much easier to act like the bigger man(not literally) when you have another ring on your finger.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Junoon:</div><div class="quote_post">^^ He said Kobe's name in the interview, just not at the point where he said he had maybe dealt with them wrongly or whatever.</div> I know bro, I was talking about the part where he talks about "the other two guys" He says penny, but not Kobe in that paragraph. ALso, this should clear up who's fault it was between the Shaq and Kobe beef. Shaq said in the interview he was yelling and not cooperative, etc.

That interview is a crock of sh!t, how long has it been since he and Kobe played on the same team?? 2-3 years? Don't tell me he had a maturity phase during then. He is just able to admit more, because he has one more ring that Kobe doesn't have.
I think shaq just realised that it isnt his team anymore, that someone might actually be better than him.LOL, nah im kidding, but i think that, maybe, he has seen what can happen when you dont handle a situation the right way, and he's showing DWade how good he can be. I beleive Wade will be the next Big star, along with LeBron and Melo (kind of like Kobe,TMac and KG)
I'm not sure why Shaq is doing a 180 on the Kobe situation now. Is it the fact he's won a ring now? Is it the fact he's been asked the question so many times he decided to try giving a new answer? Is it the fact Shaq can't sleep at night because of a guilty conscience? Like, when I was with Penny, we were both young guys and since everybody was going to put the pressure on me, we're going to do it my way. Period. You don't like it? Forget you. The same thing when I went to L.A. This quote pretty much sums up his character on the Laker roster. We all have come across people like this in our lives. Shaq is like the kid who comes to the schoolyard with the brand new basketball, and then threatens to go home after he loses the first game.

But yeah, I agree, how can you play and be close with someone with that attitude?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting authentiq:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah. I actally thought him and Penny wee friends. I mean, they did cast in Blue Chips together..</div>' Being in the same movie doesn't make anyone friends.
Well correct me if Im wrong but the whole situation with Penny and Shaq started when Penny begin to get more media attention and endorsements. Since the championship was not won when they played against the Rockets he started bad mouthing everyone in his team (like typical Shaq). Obviously the same situation happened in LA when Shaq came over and Kobe was the future kid, the future all-star. Shaq has always been selfish. Ofcourse now that he is old and cannot play like he used to he has to depend on Dwayne Wade. Shaq = Selfishness.
And selfishness can only go so far before you need someone to help or "prop" up on again i.e. Dwyane Wade with his whole "I'm mature now".

I'm just curious why he's backpeddling all of a sudden.
SHAPECITY: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm just curious why he's backpeddling all of a sudden.</div> Well, my theory is that he may wonder now how the Lakers could have been if he did not demanded the trade and his attitude was different. He is coming to realize that with KOBE by his side they could have one the 2005 and 2006 championships. Now he has only one more than Kobe. The question is does Shaq believe that the Heat are going to win again? IMO, no way. If we look back the MAVS were the better team and they got robbed. This year was the Mavs year. The HEAT are old, slow, with a bunch of veteran players. Not only will they face a lot of injuries this next year but will have to rebuild by next year with an old Shaq and high salary. If, we look at the Laker situation I truly see the Lakers being in Western Semi-finals this upcoming season. If we look at both team situations. The Lakers have a higher probability of winning more championships in the next five years with the best player in the NBA at his primetime. In addition, Shaq is now building friendships and bridges because in two seasons when he averages 10/5 he does not want to get waived.
