<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Why build around a SG not named Dwyane or Kobe? The first round would be as far as we would go. We are building to make noise in the future, not to sneak in and get eliminated in 5 games.</div> Think about it...you're not going to bebuilding around 30 year old VC. The 'cats already have Morrison, Felton, Emeka, Wallace and May to build around. If somehow they land VC, Wallace could be traded to help address the weaknesses of Charlotte. Plus, how can you make that comment when you haven't even seen how the Bobcats play in 06-07? If that's suppose to be a jab at Carter about being eliminated in the first round...the Nets did advance to the 2nd round this year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Do you really expect to see a clone of Dwyane or Kobe anytime soon?</div> Uh, no. I said it isn't smart to build around a SG unless it is Bryant or Wade, because they are the only SG's that could make you championship contenders. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Carter isn't horrible as you make it look like, and he is a top free agent next summer for a reason.</div> How am I making him out to be horrible? I'd much rather spend the money on a younger player(s) that has more potential and hasn't reached his ceiling, like Carter has. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Plus, how can you make that comment when you haven't even seen how the Bobcats play in 06-07? I'm just saying theirs no point in paying him franchise player like money if he isn't a franchise player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How am I making him out to be horrible? I sure as hell know 24/5/4 isn't horrible</div> Well your acting like a first round elimination is something you can <u>always</u> expect with Carter.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">Well your acting like a first round elimination is something you can <u>always</u> expect with Carter.</div> Let's say Carter was on the Bobcats, PG - Felton SG - Vince SF - Morrison/Wallace PF - Meka C - Brezec Decent team? Yeah. Eastern Semi-Finals? No way.

Add Carter to the mix and that's even more dangerous. Now let's say they don't progress as much and get knocked out in the first round, would that fully be Carter's fault. Now let me add something because I didn't say this before. I'm all in favor in Bobcats point of view, if Carter would agree to a 2-3 year contract. Other than that I don't Bobcats should sign him to a longer contract due to his age. Just something that I forgot to mention.

The only thing I would worry about is that Vince isn't a strong leader, and if that team falters, he would get most of the blame and he doesn't like dealing with that. Vince needs a leader like JKidd on his team to motivate and strengthen Vince.

We are building to make noise in the future, not to sneak in and get eliminated in 5 games.</div> With all the young players on that team, I don't think the Cats would neccesarily have to "build around" him. For example the Hornets signed Peja and he's making the most dough on the team, but they aren't building around Peja. It would be a similar situation to that, Vince will have a bigger role than a Peja in terms of doing more than scoring, but with guys like Felton, Morrison, Emeka, May etc, it would not be a one man show, it would be a team thing. Also in your other post where you showed the roster, what you're neglecting to factor in is the improvement of those other players. This isn't going to be second year Felton (and who knows how good he'll be), rookie May, rookie Morrison, etc, if they sign Vince it'll likely be for 08/09, earliest 07/08, but he's not going to leave a $16 million option. So what you're looking at is: Raymond Felton in his 4th season Vince Morrison in his third season Emeka in his 5th season May in his 4th season and Brezec and G.Wallace should've improved too. So it wouldn't be just adding Vince to the current Bobcats, it would be adding Vince to an already playoff caliber Bobcats team as long as they stay healthy and the players improve. The team then could already feature a Top 5-10 PG, a 20+ PPG scorer with shooting abilty. A nice post defender and shot blocker who can rebound, and still produce offensively (hopefull Olajuwon's help has made him a better offensive post option). May is also a nice guy as a scorer and rebounder, but he needs to get his FG% up, he should be a great backup PF/C off the bench in a few seasons, or if the Bobcats go another way, starting PF with Emeka at C.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Da Nang Thang:</div><div class="quote_post">Damn that sucks for Vince. Didn't he just get married last summer?</div> He sure did . Its amazing to see Vince so quiet about it; its almost like he saw it coming. The way marriage works in the USA legally makes it better off not marrying at all (more chance of staying together as an unmarried couple). I hope that Vince made a prenup.
