He's already on one cover. You can't be on the covers for two rival companies can you?

I would imagine that if EA wanted him on the cover of the game it would be the U.S. version. Also, is he Italian or did he ever play there proffessionally? I know he lived there for a while but I doubt the Italians feel like he's one of their own.

That is correct as far as I know.

Not a big fan of the two player cover, they shoud've picked one player... And Kobe's American, just because he lived in Italy as a kid doesn't mean he should get the cover...

If they were to make a cover for Italy, I think Andrea Bargnani would be the consensus pick.

I was just in Italy a few weeks ago, and I saw no signs of basketball anywhere. The country is passionate about soccer and not much else. I didn't see a single Bargnani jersey or any basketball jersey for that matter. I was in the southern part of the country, so maybe it's more popular in northern Italy?

I'm not sure Bargnani would have an impact on the sales, in fact it could be an adverse effect if he's on the cover. Italy is very nationalistic from what I could see. The Italians are proud of their country, and with Bargnani skipping the World Championships it probably doesn't sit well.

If you were in southern Italy, then I can understand why there were no Bargnani jerseys. He played for Benneton Treviso, which is in the Northeast corney of Italy.

No, I wasn't making the case that there should be an Italian cover. Mainly, I was saying that Bargnani represented Italian basketball better than Kobe (the idea of the original poster). Andrea not joining the WC's was more of a mutual decision from both parties, but I can agree with you on one part. Italians, in general, do not pay as much attention to basketball, because they don't see the kind of consistency in the rosters as they are used to in soccer, etc. I mean, in this year alone, they lost their GM and best player to the NBA. I think there are people who enjoy the sport there, but feel as if their league is not the greatest place to follow it.

I doubt you'll find many(if any) jersey's in Northern Italy either. Generally, people in Europe only care about soccer. You'll see 1000 soccer jerseys but you won't find many basketball ones. The first reason for this is that not many stores actually sell basketball jerseys in Europe and the second one is that basketball doesn't really have a huge following.

In England, you'll find people have more interest for basketball in areas where theres a larger population of blacks or asians. In areas with a larger white community, it's rare to find interest in basketball. I don't know why this is but for some reason it is. I assume the same applies for Italy, except I think the population consists of less people with ethnic backgrounds.

Overall though, nobody really cares about the own countries National basketball league, but more about the NBA. I could probably name about three English teams in the league, I have no idea about them. This is because the games aren't televised and theres no buzz to begin with anyway.
