Holy crap! Never thought this would happen. I tell you fellas, I won't jump to conclusions about our chances of making the playoffs, but we definitely will play small ball a lot better and more rookies will be used if they can flat out play. Still, if this rumor becomes true, it looks like a desperation move by Mully to do something to boost his popularity with fans ...or maybe he needs Nelson to counsel him to stop drinking again. One thing is for certain... Defense won't be fixed or made a priority this season and it will definitely be small ball again unless Nelson plays conventionally... Plus, we'll probably see a lot of three guard lineups. Hopefully, we don't have to see a Don Nelson lineup of Baron at PF and Jrich at C. Monty probably was a good coach, but he had the wrong guys during the worst period of Mullin's GM career (plus Arenas + Jamison is more franchise star power than Jrich + Murphy in '04 + a useless Baron Davis. I still worry about Mullin jacking things up. Not even Larry Brown could fix Isiah's mess so I'm not counting on Nelly to help things much with the same Warriors roster. It's all about the moves the GM makes for the now and the future and so far he's been doing a terrible job since he took office.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kwan1031:</div><div class="quote_post"> If Nelson can't save Dunleavy, nobody will.</div> My thoughts exactly. I do think this could be HUGE for a player like Zarko! He was great in transition with Biedrens and Davis...
To me, it's hard to believe that Mullin still has the final say. First, Nelson had full control when he was with us, when he was in NY and when he was in Dallas. Plus, Mullin is not West, and Nelson was Mullin's coach. Unless Nelson just wants to coach, the ultimate power should be in Nelson's hand now. Second, this really is a desperate move by Cohan. I mean, he hired back Nelson when they dragged lawsuit for few years. Although Mullin had to be a meditator between those two, Nelson won't be back unless he had considerable incentive to come back...

But, I am not too sure with Biedrins or Diogu though. Biedrins may be too unskilled to fit in Nelson's system, and I don't remember Nelson working well with undersized post up players. But, we will see...
The changes in the organization as a whole is going to be interesting. Nelson needs to groom the whole organization so we don't keep firing coaches, GM's etc. Hopefully Mully realizes he made some mistakes (Foyle, Dunn) and will learn from Nelson. I wonder if his inability to make a deal this off season might have pushed him over the top. Nelson has so many contacts and has made some crazy trades, hopefully they can work together and right the ship. Meanwhile, I think Elie is going to be groomed to take over in a couple of years. Monty is a good coach but was obviously in the wrong situation. I think he would have done better if he too learned the NBA game from someone like Nelson. He is a class act and wish him nothing but the best.
wow...this takes me back to the early 90's, when i first started following the W's. its a shame how things ended with nellie the first time...lets hope round 2 is better!! i'm reaaaal glad that there was some sort of shake up during the offseason, lets just hope that nellie gets along with baron & j-rich, cuz god knows he clashed with some of our big names back in the day...
Can anyone find compensation news? I guess we won't know till Wednesday afternoon when this is formally announced. I'm hoping the contract is incentive based. Make the playoffs, get big pay day... I believe it was mentioned in the past that Mully had tried to bring Nelson back, but obviously things didn't jive. But now, maybe it was the money, something has clicked and W's are looking at getting one of the best basketball minds back on their side. Growing up watching Nelson coach, by the way is Donnie Nelson coming too, was one of the best memories. Having Timmy running all over the place and even seeing the occasional Mully dunk... I'm hoping Nellie came back because of the potential and talent he sees on the roster. I can only imagine what the W's can be, even with the current roster.
Nelson has agreed to an incentive-laden three-year contract that is worth up to $18 million, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. As part of the deal, Nelson will receive $1 million if the Warriors make the playoffs this season. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGF2KR9MV2.DTL
This is awesome. Nellie definitely won't improve our defense but he'll get the offense going and really take advantage of the offensive skills of guys like Baron and Dun. I hope Monty does well wherever he goes to coach in the college ranks, he just wasn't the right type of coach to succeed in the NBA. I do agree with CR2 that this doesn't automatically get us into the playoffs. The west is extremely tough, we'd still be competing with Sac, LAL, Denver, Memphis, etc for the last few playoff spots. We still could only be a Baron injury away from being out of the playoffs, next year he'll probably be a huge part of our offense instead of last year when he was a generic part in Monty's offense. We can expect to run alot but that doesn't automatically mean wins.
Well it's not as if the warriors defense was going to improve anyway, they suck on man to man defense. It's futile. But Nellie can most definately find a way to boost the offense. And I'll take that any day. I expect at least 40 wins. Given his credibility, I am sure he can get 6 more wins than Monty.
I know that because of the Gilbert Arenas situation they installed the Arenas rule for second round draft picks. But .... Back when Webber was a rookie being first signed his agent managed to get an opt-out clause in his deal after his first year. First i think the Warriors were fools to agreeing to this, but as it is now isn't there a salary structure set in place for rookies that would not allow a player to opt out as Webber did? In fact Webber would have remained a Warrior and most likely Nelson would have been the one to go. Instead we lost both. Is this the Webber rule? In reading about Sarunas Marcilonus he was referred to as the "late" Sarunas. Is he in fact dead? And if so how did he die?
I think the Warriors "wanted" a 1 year deal so they can sign him for max on a long term deal after. But because of the situation he wanted a trade.
Man now it is definitely not safe to view these pages at work. People will think employees are looking at porno instead of basketball lol.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting samoan-maverick:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys just got penciled into the playoffs. Baron is just as good as Nash was probably better, and expect Murphy and Diogu to shine. Damn you guys got J-Rich too. Pietrus too. Damn you guys are stacked.</div> i agree, Murphy could be great now, he could be dirk like (not skill wise, but style wise in neelie's system, but with better rebounding)

Bottom cleavage isn't as common. It's okay with me but check with Shapecity or Rudeezy if it's all right. I'm so used to boob I don't even care anymore.
