For those of you that caught the game on tv.. The USA "D" (if you want to call it that, didn't really see much defensive intensity except from Battier) couldn't contain V-Span... He was bombing 3's and repeatedly blowing by everyone for layups.. At the end of the 3rd, with something like 3 seconds on the clock, Spanoulis beat everyone to a loose ball and took it the length of the court for a layup. I can't wait to see him in a Rockets uniform next season! The line: 6/10 FG 3/5 3P 7/9 FT 22 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, 30 mins
Greece deserves to win the game because of their great teamwork and they worked so hard to contain the US Team. I'm sad for the US Team. 10 minutes was not enough for a comeback. VSpan was spectacular and I hope he would carry that performance in the NBA. Despite the loss of our Team USA we should be proud Rockets fans cause we have something special coming in. Like what johnny33 had said it'll sure be an excitement to see him in a Rockets uniform this coming NBA season.
yea he had a hell of a game he wasnt missing, i am just wondering has anyone seen him play befor and can he hit the nba 3 of does he just have the fiba 3 (mid range in the nba) its only a 3 foot diffrence but some guys have trouble with those 3 feet
This time Team USA didn't get away with their poor FT shooting and poor 3pt shooting like what they did in their previous games beating the opponents by their pressure defense on the ball handlers. I guess Tony Parker was right when he said before the tournanment that Greece is one of the top teams to beat in the World Basketball Championship this year. Congrats to the Greek Team and their fans.
they could of gotten away with all those i think if we had a little more depth at the center power foward spot we needed a player with dwights size but bosh perimeter defense cause thats were we got burned with the pick and rolls and the centers and pf shooting 3's i thought this was a prefect game for brad miller, to bad coach k didnt think so
Great game from Greece. They fell behind early but made a run to take the lead, and managed to hold on late in the game for the upset win. They played well as a team, and their defense was impressive. USA didn't help themselves shooting just 20-34 from the line against tough opposition. Houston has a lot to look forward to with V-Span.
Have you all seen the boxscore? Greece shot 71% from 2 point range and 44% from 3... USA shot 20/34 from the line, only 4 steals for the team. That's the story of the game right there. A few more stops (or a few less wide open layups) and a few more FT's made and this would have been a USA win.

I'm sure he won't have a problem shooting NBA 3 pointers.
I am happy for u guys spanoulis was great I think 5 out of 12 players should play in the NBA..Especially Sofoclis Shortsianittis... http://www.sport.gr/basket/mb06/060901/mb06greusa3.asp here there are some clips..from the Greek team..
I would say VSpan is the kind of 3 point shooter that Jason Williams is. Bad percentages but can get into a rythm and hit big shots. I may be crazy but I swear I saw him cross Hinrich, Wade and L.James at different times. He made some good passes and showed he is an aggressive and smart player. I watched the game live. The second and third quarter was unbelievable to watch team USA crumble. they couldn't guard the pick and roll, and over and over and over again got scored on. And the free throw shooting was even worse than the stats show. It was awful.
The US team could not guard the pick and roll to save it's life. They were burned on the high screen and roll play several times, in succession, in the third quarter. Look like Greece did a great job scouting the US team. They had struggled with pick and roll defense before, and Greece exploited that.

I was getting kinda worried when he picked up his 4th foul. But yea, with his passing ability i think hes capable of more ast. BTW, Greece HAD SOME AMAZING PASSES. Some of the best pick and rolls i've seen. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A couple of his 3's in today's game were well behind the 3 point line. I believe he has the range though. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think 5 out of 12 players should play in the NBA..Especially Sofoclis Shortsianittis...</div> Yea , Sofoclis Shortsianittis, or better know as "Baby Shaq", is certainly a good player. I believe he got drafted by an NBA team, then... dont know what exactly happened to him.. For his massive frame and size, he is extreamly mobile. Had a run of his own before commiting his 3rd foul. definately brought some engery to the team.
