Now I do not feel so bad about the Warriors problems after seeing the U.S. send its best athletes/players to compete against the world and still come up empty when playing a less talented team like Greece. They couldn't shoot from the field, at the foul line, they played 1 on 5 instead of 5 on 5 ball, and the worst is they couldn't even defend pick and roll. Sounds like our team almost!

Just goes to show fundamentals and team chemistry can absolutely whoop one-on-one crap, poor shooting, and poor defense. If it's 1 on 5 forget about it. Plus, guys need to know how to shoot and make it. I'd take substance over style any day, even if it's boring.

Well... we have to compete for Bronze again and play more games to qualify for Olympics berth, but with time the team should improve their chemistry and hopefully get out of their shooting funk. Still free throws, poor field goal shooting, defense, not sharing the ball... that's just like the Warriors. Maybe coach K had some strange calls from the sideline, but players weren't stepping up and the players are the ones who are supposed to be the best out there and favored to win against basketball nobodies... even with minor amount of team chemistry.

Yeah except you are throwing the ultimate anti-team player, ball hog, glory hog extraordinaire.... Kobe Bryant to the mix for the real deal the olympics. Though knowing that guys character he mostly likely will opt out to stay home. That would set any "Team" back years. I magine a team consisting of Francis, MArbury, Bryant, Jason Caffey ( the biggest black hole i have ever seen play) and Eddie Curry ( another black hole).

This is the second time I read your post in Warriors forum, and I always find an irony. Take a good look at what you wrote. And, if you have a problem with other people's post, calm down and stop putting hate out there for anyone who you don't agree with/understand/like, especially when you are not in Lakers board. And where did you get the idea that our speech right is somehow related to Warriors record? We always welcome other fans as long as they bring an intellegent post. But, for people who barge into the board, rip a poster and says 'be quiet until your spoken to"? Er, not so much...

Maybe you should start doing the same. Consider this a warning.

First off, Kobe doesn't hog the ball, and if he were to play with Superstars, he wouldn't take as many shots. Kobe is also fundamentally sound. He can also play defense better than of the current captains of the United States. A true Ball hog has a sad TS% or is one of those undersized SGs playing PG (although even then, there are exceptions).

    WTF is this?

This is a warriors board, I don't log on here to discuss Kobe.

Kobe is the best player in the NBA but he is what he is, a scorer. The best in the league and a NBA superstar. His job isn't to share the ball and get others involved, Phil wants him to shoot and carry the team. To say he gets other guys involved consistently and on a high level is false.

Keep this Lakers smack talk garbage out of here.

I was not the one to introduce the topic into this thread. The topic is also about the USA's performance in the World Championship, which leads to Kobe's name popping up.

Yes that's right, on the 05-06 Lakers he primarily is. But he has averaged 30/7/6 with 1st team defense before, few can accomplish this. He plays differently depending on the players around him.

I can criticize any message in this thread that is uneducated. When did I say Kobe was a great passer? He doesn't need to pass, just shoot less and play tenacious defense on the USA olympic team. Hell, he could even keep shooting almost as much as he normally does and the US would still have a shot, but that's not the point. Where is this Lakers' smalk talk you speak of? What a farce, get over it.

Bah, it's hard to tell online. I'm so used to benighted posters during these times, I'm not sure. Whatever.

This quote gave me the impression that he was addressing me. I didn't see the previous laker basher mention this, whereas my first post in this thread could have been wrongly understood in this manner.

I dont mean to continue this Kobe convo, but is there any dispute to the claim that Kobe is selfish?

btw- I hope you aren't referring to Kobe as Jesus.

Excuse me but that is a nickname from the Lakerboard. I liked it so I can call him that if I feel like it. And yes, I can dispute the claim that he is selfish. However, if by selfish, you mean someone with a True Shooting % almost the same as LeBron, with a 28 PER (and 1st team defense), then I guess he is then isn't he? K then.

Greece is a good team. They won the European championships last year as well. I didn't get to watch the USA/Greece game but I am not surprised that Greece won.

It would be interesting if the NBA's best players were on the team and wanted to win, such as Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, and Shaq O'Neal or even Jermaine O'Neal.

As for the Warriors, I hope and I am more optimistic about the Warriors playing more 5 on 5 basketball with the addition of Don Nelson as head coach. Hopefully by then everyone will know what they need to do and what is expected of them including Baron being in shape to run a lot and Dunleavy and Murphy understanding the offense and their roles on the team better. Then I see this team improving.

Harrumph. Strange calls from the sideline and it's Coach K, too.

Maybe most college coaches, even the best ones, don't do well in the NBA.
