<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Grizzlies season-ticket holder Diane Brown recalls telling a fellow fan last season at FedExForum: "If they would put me in charge of these concession stands just one day, I could straighten them out." As a new NBA season approaches, the Grizzlies have taken up Brown on the spirit of her offer. She's among 40 members -- from 400-plus applicants -- on the team's inaugural Fan Advisory Board, a cross section of patrons to be consulted throughout the season. But rest easy, Coach Fratello ... "This isn't about who's playing the four slot and people's minutes and stuff like that," said Andy Dolich, president of business operations. "This is really focused on the issues of fan involvement, service, FedExForum, and how we can, basically, make the experience that much more enjoyable for the people who are coming through the doors." The board, which meets for the first time on Sept. 12, includes a cross section of fans, from season-ticket holders to single-game buyers, from newcomers to those who hopped on the bandwagon the day it rolled into town in 2001. Membership is largely from Memphis and the suburbs, but Munford, West Memphis and Jonesboro are represented. The board's formation is another sign that the Grizzlies -- criticized last season for everything from shoddy concession service to stale game presentation -- are intent on improving the fan experience this season. Hoping to reverse last season's attendance drop of more than 1,000 a game, the Grizzlies lowered many season-ticket prices, created an NBA-low $5-a-game season ticket, cut the price of bottled water, hired a new director of promotions and event presentation, and remade the roster with a nod toward athleticism. Now comes the advisory board, made up of such fans as Brown, 54, who's blunt about last season's woes -- but wouldn't dream of dropping her season tickets. "I'm extremely passionate about this basketball team," she said. "Because I think they do good things for this community. "When you go in there, you leave all of the garbage and the biases that Memphis has outside. When you go in there, it's just everybody rooting on the team. And I just think that's great." </div> Source
