In an attempt to pump some life back into this forum, lets put ourselves in the seat of the 76ers general manager for a second. If you were the GM this offseason, what would you have done different as opposed to what Billy King has been doing?

Who would you have selected in the 2006 NBA Draft?

    1st Round:

    2nd Round:

    What trades would you make?

Who would you sign off of Free Agency?

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C-
    PF-
    SF-
    SG-
    PG-

Who would you have selected in the 2006 NBA Draft?

    1st Round:

I probably would have traded AI to Boston, and with their pick drafted Randy Foye. Then with ours, I would have look at Cedric Simmons or Ronnie Brewer. I would probably end up drafting Simmons though, simply because we are pretty stacked at guards, and since we are rebuilding, it never hurts to bring in a guy with tons of potential.

    2nd Round:

I have no problems with Bobby Jones. I probably would have done the same thing.

    What trades would you make?

AI to Boston for Foye (1st round pick), Wally, and Green

Who would you sign off of Free Agency?

Bonzi Wells [IMG] and Steven Smith

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C- Dalembert, Hunter
    PF- Webber, Simmons
    SF- Wally, Korver, Smith
    SG- Wells, Green, Jones
    PG- Foye, Ollie, Williams

I know some of you guys are scratching your heads with us signing Wells, but that's based on if he accepts the MLE. If he does, we have a pretty solid line up IMO. We could also use our LLE on a veteran player. All I know is that this is better than what Billy King is doing this off season.

Oh wow! How in the world could I forget Iggy.

    C- Dalembert, Hunter
    PF- Webber, Evans, Simmons
    SF- Wally, Korver, Smith
    SG- Iguodala, Green, Jones
    PG- Foye, Ollie, Williams

In that case, we wont need to sign Wells with our MLE. We could look at some defensive minded players like Evans

Wow, you'd be a sick GM C.K.! That line up is sexy.

No, the Sixers wanted Telfair instead of Green, but the Celtics said no so the trade wasnt made. Also, I dont like how you drafted Williams and Roy in the 1st. Both are young point guards, and you also put into consideration that we drafted a point guard last year (Louis Williams), straight out of high school. Thats too much developing in the point guard spot, not to mention you have us signing Jay Williams as well. There wont be enough minutes for all of them and Williams and Roy have the potential to become stars in the league. Theres no use to draft 2 point guards in the first round

I agree with Brian. Also Roy wouldnt be available. Why sign Jay Williams when you all ready have Marcus and Roy? Too many PG's, and you still have Ollie.

Foye would play PG. Iggy and Green can switch it up, or Green can play in the SF position. Green is still years away from producing, so when Wally's contract runs out, Green can start

still they would be two deep at every position after the trade so it would be hard to pick, thats why i just picked a pg, i was about to pick o'bryant but i was like they have hunter and dalembert who are relativly young,

Drafting Foye is the best scenario. With AI gone, who else is going to play the point? Williams is straight from high school, and is still years away from producing. He is only a second round pick, so I doubt he will become a star in the league. He can be a pretty decent backup. Green played in the D-League last season, and I doubt he will be getting a lot of playing time this season. If he does impress, and if he shows he is ready, we can always trade away Korver. The addition of Wally makes him expandable since they are both shooters

drafting foye wouldnt be poissible unless you traded ai to minny for our pick. He was our guy goin in, and if there wasnt the oppurtunity for some cash, we would have picked him at 6.

Again, why draft 2 point guards in the first round, and then use the MLE on one in the off season? It just doesnt make sense. There wont be enough minutes to split between Williams, Foye, Speedy, and last year's second rounder Louis Williams
