Pau's out for 3 months after his injury in the World Championships. This should help the Lakers cause for post season play. Without Gasol, the Grizzlies lose their franchise player and number one option on offense. They'll have to count on Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick to have big seasons. I don't think either are ready for the responsibility. It's going to be important for the Lakers to take advantage of Gasol's injury by getting off to a fast start. Here's the list of teams we face in the first month of basketball. <font size=""1"">PHX @GSW SEA @SEA MIN @POR MIN DET MEM (No Gasol) TOR CHI LAC @UTA NJ MIL UTA</font> Only four games our of sixteen are on the road for the Lakers during the first month of the season. The schedule this season is a 180 from last year. This season the Lakers easy part of the season starts in the first half and then ends with a more demanding schedule to close out the regular season. I'd like to see this team win at least 11 of their first 16 games to put themselves in the playoff race. The Lakers can't afford to start off slow again this season and figure things out later on.
Although it's never good to celebrate a player's injury, this definitely helps the Lakers. Its sort of bitter sweet. You never want to see a player of Pau's caliber out for so long, but it helps us as a team tremendously. Without Pau, the Grizzlies really don't have much else. They traded Shane to the Rockets for Rudy Gay, but he is still a couple of seasons away from producing. With Pau's injury, it definitely boosts up our chance for easy wins, and hopefully eliminates a team that we will have to worry about in the playoff race
I don't get it. He's not even in our divsion. It would help us if we played all the 3 or games in the span of 3 months while he's out. But either way it's a big loss for the Grizzlies. I just wish it was that preppy chick Steve Nash or Raja Bitch.

We have a lot of competition for the playoffs, so if the Griz struggle, it can only help us out...

For the last time. The laskers will not fight for their playoff lives. In fact, they will be fighting for the top seed in the west. (1-3)

Like many have said before, its good for us, bad for them. This means they will have a tough and I mean tough start of the season.
I agree that they need to get off to a fast start. I think if they start off on the right foot, that could carry on for the entire season and they could possibly win their division.
