<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Denver Post - The Nuggets are set to re-sign power forward Reggie Evans to a five year contract, a deal which is expected to be signed this week, according to an NBA source.

While the financial terms have to be finalized, Evans, 6-feet-8, 245 pounds, is expected to get less than the team's available full mid-level exception that would pay $5.215 million next season. Nuggets director of player personnel Mark Warkentien declined comment.

The Nuggets have 14 players on the roster, including eight power forwards or centers, not including Carmelo Anthony and Linas Kleiza, who are expected to play small forward.

It's possible the Nuggets could make a trade using the power forwards or centers as bait.</div>

I don't think that a player of Evan's calibre is worth the MLE, he's a really good rebounder for the amount of time he's on the floor, but that's about it. Nothing too special about him, but maybe it's just my bias against undersized power fowards.

I'm surprised at the length of the deal Denver offered Reggie Evans. This team has a lot invested in Nene, KMart, and Camby already. Plus they have Melo on a max deal now, and not to mention Joe Smith taking up another $6M. I know Joe is only signed for 1 season, but he still counts on this year's payroll.

This signing has to mean the Nuggets are serious discussions about making a trade with one of their frontline players.

Good news. I like Evans and think that super rebounding and good defence are very important.

Evans Likely To Sign Five-Year Deal
