<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SAITAMA -- Good things come in small packages. Well, that's what they say, but after watching Sofoklis Schortsanitis play for the past couple of weeks in the FIBA World Championship, it would be easy to disagree with that adage.

Schortsanitis, who was averaging 8.8 points per game heading into the final, has been one of the revelations of the tournament.

The 208-cm, 158-kg reserve center was a constant spark for Greece, including in its huge win over the United States in the semifinals, throughout its run to the final.

The big man with the nickname "Baby Shaq" has NBA written all over him.

But unlike his namesake, who is known for his power game around the hoop, Schortsanitis has displayed speed, agility and soft hands during the 16-day event.

The 21-year-old, who was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2003, has four years remaining on his contract with Olympiakos, but has an escape clause that will allow him to get out of it to play in the NBA.

The buyout on Schortsanitis' contract with the Greek club is only $ 500,000, according to sources.</div>

Why does every big man who's BIG get the nickname Baby Shaq. Wasn't this given to Eddy Curry out of HS?

He has a cheap buyout compared to other players coming from overseas. Does anyone think he can really ball?

If he is a baby Shaq while being only 6foot10 inches and averaging 8.8 ppg, then I am a baby Shaq too.

With all the hype on Sofo, the Clippers should trade him for a future pick. Their frontline is set with Kaman (who I expect them to resign), Brand, Tim Thomas, and Paul Davis.

A lot of teams could use a banger like Sofo.

I actually heard a commentor refer to him as baby "tractor trailor" so who knows.

Its unfair to those players because they most likely wont live up to the hype (Eddie Curry).

The only similarity that Shaq and Sofo have is that they are both horrendous free throw shooters.

I didn't see Sofo make a shot outside of 8 feet from the rim the entire tournament. He isn't a good rebounder and he doesn't move well defensively. What he can do is screen and seal in the post but that isn't enough for me to determine that he'd make a huge impact in the league.

He reminds me of Danny Forston moreso than Shaq and with that he can't rebound or shoot free throws as well as Forston. The Clippers would be best served trading his rights.
