<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FULLERTON ? Three days after Nicolas Junior High eighth-grader Janette Jimenez was found dying in her home, a representative of Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant arrived at the school with a $5,000 donation for the family.

"The publicist said Kobe was sickened by (the tragedy) when he saw it on the news," Nicolas Assistant Principal Olga Hofreiter said today. "We told him the money could be used for relocation or funeral costs. ?The family didn't want to go back into the house."

Janette, 13, was found by her father a week ago bleeding to death from multiple stab wounds, Fullerton police Sgt. Linda King said. Minutes later, Alberto Jimenez found a man, later identified as renter Damon Flores, 40, dead in another room.

King said police are handling the case as a murder-suicide by Flores.

The Nicolas staff and administrators collected $2,000 in personal donations Friday. Neighbors held a car-wash fundraiser Saturday as well.

Also, Hofreiter said, students were asked to bring donations, food and sympathy cards or letters that would be forwarded to the family.

"We also have counselors available," she added.</div>

Good to see Kobe getting involved. The ones that have, should give...

Kobe is really a good guy. How many donations did he make already? I lost count, and I definately have a lot of respect for him.

He's been doing these things almost his entire career. But it's only now getting media attention.

    Yeah, God bless Kobe [IMG].

God bless the girl and her family, friends, and classmates. It's great what Kobe did but I'm sure the $5,000 dollars doesn't make the family feel a whole lot better.

I agree with BJM. Sure donating $5,000 dollars to the family is one hell of an act. I commend it, completely. It proves Kobe's heart is full of gold. But God bless him? C'mon. What about the family man. Think before you post something like that. Kobe did something awesome that the family will be grateful for, forever. But we don't need to bless him.

Ok then **** Kobe! Are you pleased? Stop kissing BJM's ass. Does he have to donate 90 millions of dollars in order for him to receive blessings?

It's not about how much money he gave it's about the family facing a tragedy. It was generous of Kobe to give the money but he's not the one who just lost a daughter or friend. Kind of disturbing really that someone would read the story and their first thought is "God bless Kobe."

You want to talk like that some more on this board, you'll be well on your way to a suspension. Watch your language, it's against JBB guidelines.

Nobody is kissing up to BJM, either. He's right. You're giving Kobe a little too much credit here. Sure, he did something great, but what you said was very ignorant to be honest. Why should Kobe be praised for this? Because he's a millionaire and can afford this? I'm sure 98% of the people that know this family would donate that much or more if they had Kobe's money.

It was a great thing to do by Kobe, and he has a heart of gold. BUT, what he did shouldn't be God blessed. What he did won't help the family get thier loved one back. What he did was very kind, but you seem to be putting Kobe over the family.

Once again, watch your language. Take it as your first and final warning before higher action is taken.

Lets not turn this board into a church. Your bassically saying Kobe is a bastard for donating $5,000. He should have donated more. Like I said, I feel for those families facing tragedies and once again GOD BLESS KOBE! You can take those little warning of yours and shove them. This is not the only board thats on the internet.

Where do you get me calling him a bastard? Why would I call my FAVORITE PLAYER a bastard? You're overhyping the $5,000 dollars that he donated, though. That does little to settle a family who just lost a loved one. $5,000 can't bring that person back.

If you want to leave, by all means go. Your contributions to this Laker board, in all honesty, can be easily replaced. We get tons of new Laker fans everyday. Nobody is holding you hear. It may not be the only board, but it's the best.

Relax everyone. No need to debate about the greatness of the deed. It was a great gesture, and let's leave it at that.

Lakers4life - There's no need to disrespect my staff. He's doing his job to enforce the guidelines. You're entitled to your opinion, and people are entitled to respond to it, whether to criticize or support. There's no need to take it personal, just defend your position next time.

I haven't disrespected anyone on this board not even once. I understand people are entitled to respond to "God Bless Kobe!". Who am I to take anything personal.

I took offense to this remark on behalf of TBM. I understand emotions sometimes get the better of people when they are on a forum, but we have guidelines in place to keep this a respectable community.

We're all fans of the NBA here and more importantly Laker fans. [IMG]
