Anybody else get these? I get them right in the meetingplace of my cheek and gums and it hurts tremendously. Then you try to poke them with your tongue habitually and that only makes it worse. You can't eat good spicy food or big food. Canker sores definitely are lame.
Damn, I know what you're talking about. I used to get them from time to time and it would be annoying when I'm trying to brush my teeth, because I'd have to avoid the canker sore. It will be gone soon though.
Not everyone can contract Aphthous Stomatitis (Canker Sores), that is, unless under certain circumstances. Commonly only around 60 or 70 percent of people can have them naturally. These sores can be caused by a number of things including passing them from mouth to mouth, too much spicy, salty, or sweet foods as you've mentioned, or even stress which is most common among people today. If you're writing is true that after you pick at it, it becomes worse I would see a medical physician about treatments. The US doesn't have efficient items to cure these nasty annoyances though, as in France. In France I had a severe case of Aphthous Stomatitis where it was to the point that it appeared as if I had the Mumps. I couldn't eat because the pain was too severe. The doctor gave me a prescription for some mint pills and after a few days they were gone. Meanwhile treatments here only hide the pain, but don't actually make these things go away. Still, it is your only option.
Basically what I wrote from college study. Yeah, Wikipedia is a great website. I have quite a few articles on there.

Although it may have just been a cut, but I think it was around a bit too long for it to have been one. It was very very sore aswell, I could eat for like a week.

They can be caused by open wounds in the mouth as well I found. One time when I was eating something with Italian spices I bit open by lip and only the next day I had a severe sore on the same spot that wouldn't go away for nearly 2 weeks. If you wash it with this one cleaner (I forget the name) then the sore can be prevented.
^^I didnt know those where canker sores, i thought they were just cuts. When i had braces and played bball, i would get all cut up every game, and have real bad pain the next few days, i guess i had canker sores. I hated mouth guards btw, lol
Ughhhhh I hate em, I have a huge one and it hurts like a biatch. Im brushing my teeth right now and it stings like crazy
