<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Free agent and former Kings shooting guard Bonzi Wells still doesn't have a contract, but it appears he will have a new agent. According to two agents, Wells has fired William Phillips, who could not broker a deal for his only NBA client. Coming off a wondrous postseason, Wells was considered among the top free agents. But Wells and Phillips reportedly turned down a five-year, $36 million offer from the Kings. Phillips said he was negotiating with six teams, but no deal was consummated. Wells has informed the Kings that he would like to return, a notion Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie said was impractical because payroll is approaching the luxury tax threshold. Also, they signed John Salmons to replace Wells.</div> Source Bonzi finally made a smart move. Him and his agent should have excepted the Kings initial offer. Next season is going to be even worse for free agents, because most teams are at the luxury tax threshold already.
Seeing how he killed us in the playoffs, his agent shouldve known what he is worth, unless he thinks someone will make a better offer, if not spurs should pick him up lol

For now he can come off the bench as their 6th man and spend a season learning their system. Neither Barry or Finley are going to be around much longer and the Spurs could replace their production with Wells. Plus it spites the Kings in the process.
Well if Wells joined the Spurs, assuming Bonzi can play SG/SF PG: Parker (33) / Udrih (10) / Vaughn (5) SG: Ginobli (25) / Barry (15) / Bowen (8) SF: Bowen (23) / Finley (20) / Eric Williams (5) PF: Horry (20) / Tim Duncan (15) / Bonner (13) C: Tim Duncan (20) / Jackie Butler (13) / Fransico Elson (10) / Oberto (5) Duncan 35, Parker 33, Bowen 31, Ginobli 25, Finley 20, Horry 20, Barry 15, Butler 13, Bonner 13, Elson 10, Vaughn 5, Eric Williams 5, Oberto 5. Most of my estimates are a few minutes lower to make room for new players. Only Duncan has 1 more minute than last year, just because the leaving of Nazr and Nesterovic. If Wells were to join the team, assuming Bonzi wants to play at least 25 minutes, 25 minutes have to be freed up. Eric Williams loses his 5 min, Bowen loses 5 min, Barry loses 5, and Ginobli plays 5 min at PG to free up 5 min at SG, Vaughn loses his 5 min. I guess its possible, but it would need a few players to be willing to cut their minutes. As well Ginobli playing against PGs for stretches of time. It seems the best place for Bonzi was Sacramento in terms of opportunity and money.

I think you have to factor in players getting injured on San Antonio's roster, and Wells can lift his average MPG with those opportunities. I know the Spurs have been shopping Brent Barry the last couple of seasons as well.
Barry's contract is pretty resonable isnt it? im sure they could jut pick up a pick or release him if they sign bonzi
Man, as a Rocket fan I really want to see Bonzi in Houston 2 things 1. Sac may not want to trade Bonzi to a conference rival that will otherwise be fighting for the same playoff spots. 2. Rockets need the sac to overspend to get this guy. Rockets can offer Bonzi around 5mil, giving Sac a 4.1 mil trade exception. It would give the Kings some flexibility under the cap, and maybe a pick. Rockets are over the cap so it would actually be spending 10mil on the guy.
