<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former No. 1 draft pick Michael Olowokandi is coming to Phoenix - at least for a day. Olowokandi, a 7-foot free agent with 393 career starts, is paying his own way to work out for the Suns today but is a long shot to stick. Phoenix's post play is depending on the returns of Amar? Stoudemire, who had a good informal workout debut Monday, and Kurt Thomas, who is back to weighing 245 pounds like before his foot stress fracture in February. Olowokandi, the 1998 draft's top pick, could play for a one-year minimum deal ($1.07 million in his case). He has career averages of 8.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. "He's eager to get out and play a little bit," said his agent, Bill Duffy, who thinks his client could help Phoenix in spots against Dallas' DeSagana Diop or San Antonio's Tim Duncan. "You can get away with stuff in the regular season that you can't in the playoffs. A 7-footer can make a difference. It comes down to isolated plays. You've got to have a big guy."</div> Source
For a million dollars, Kandi would be a great price for an undersized suns team if they ever wanted to have a player to match up better against Shaq, Yao, Duncan, Ilgauskas, Curry, etc.

Olowokandi paid his way to Phoenix just to get a look from them Tuesday. The former top pick is a free agent, one of the few NBA regulars still unsigned. But even at 7 feet, he is a long shot to join a team with 13 guaranteed deals. Olowokandi's past of on-court underachievement, getting stun-gunned by Minneapolis police (he was acquitted) and health problems (he said he feels 21 again) don't help. "They have a very good team as it stands," he said. "I definitely did show more of an interest in this team than other teams because, at this stage of my career, it's not so much about dollars anymore but being able to compete." The Suns will add one player on a make-good contract for camp but it will likely be a summer league player or another rookie - like this week's visitor, Steven Smith, an undrafted 6-8 forward from LaSalle.</div> Olowokandi Pays Own Way For Tryout Hilarious
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">Olowokandi Pays Own Way For Tryout Hilarious</div> Well what would he have to pay? I'm sure its under 2 grand. I think the suns should take him over a rookie or whatever, maybe they are thinking that Kandiman expects like 20-30 minutes a game and they won't give him that much. Otherwise he definitely would be useful in quite a few situations against 7 foot post playing centers.
