i think it was a good idea to get rid of him, now we have room to pick up somebody worth more value than derek.
This was a good release. As we could easily get somebody with more talent and brings more the the lineup.
This is big news! Everything that's happened so far suggests the Heat believes it's Dorell Wright's time. The guy has potential to be a corner stone player if he works hard enough. It might've been worth the wait cuz if Wright developes too early, he might get a bigger offer from another team that we couldn't match w/o going over the luxury tax). They're still deciding on whether or not to re-sign Shandon Anderson but they probably decided to buyout DA instead to keep him on the team. Shandon is definetly worth having, especially for the vet's minimum.

Last season he was shipped off to the NBADL and didn't perform very well. He came in with a lousy attitude during last year's summer league and digressed in his development. He was taking off balanced fade away 3pointers in the games I went to, and Stan Van Gundy was livid at him. I don't remember reading about him doing much in this year's summer league either. Did he even play? The player who showed the most promise was Wayne Simien in this year's summer league. If the Heat really believed Dorrell Wright was a future cornerstone of this franchise, they would have let James Posey walk after this season and not extend him.
If I'm not wrong, Derek Anderson had a player option on this year, but who cares, he had just a LLE contract anyways. Doesn't make sense to waive him though. Anderson was a serviceable player for the Heat last year and his contract isn't expensive at all. Unless the Heat wanted to make space for someone else, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Or am I missing out on something here?
