Our own Fred "the mayor" Hoiberg and Rob Babcock were named assistant gm's of the timberwolves. Hopefully this means that McHale's role is gonna start to diminish like he hinted a year ago.

I don't think you should be too thrilled about Babcock. Not so sure about Hoiberg.

wasnt babcock the one who drafted CV31? that was a great move. I think he wanted foye, so that oculd be a good thing too. What did he do that was so bad compared to mchale?

Well for those who don't know, Babcock was an assistant GM with the Wolves prior to going to Toronto, so he's basically back with his old role.

VC was disgruntled, he HAD to go. Keeping him would have been way dumber.

Babcock is much better in the role of an Assistant GM, anyways. He's not completely retarded as some people would have you believe, but he's not suited to being the face of a team. As a head GM, he's too indecisive and relies too much on his staff. This isn't a bad move, but I'm afraid it won't make up for how bad a GM McHale is.

i think babcock is an excellent evaluator of unproven talent. he's the kinda a guy that u would want to watch a high school basketball game but that same quality makes him an idealist= i don't think he completely understands professional ego and its destructive effects in the locker room.

Yes he did have to go, but he could have waited for a better deal. Some say Milwaukee was offering Redd for Carter.

Doesn't make sense. Redd's contract, at that time, didn't match Carter's.

Babcock isn't as stupid as most people think... The Araujo and Carter blunders overshadow his quality drafting of CV31 and Graham while also picking up Calderon.

^^and i heard he didnt even want to draft araujo. I really cant think of anything he has done bad besides the VC trade, which he couldnt really control totally. It seems like he has been really good actually.

As far as the VC trade goes, his value was at an all time low, and it was only getting worse. I highly doubt anyone would trade their star player for him. Even though i've heard a lot of claims about it, I have yet to see any proof, other then opinions. Trading VC at that point, might not have been the best option, but it definately helped Bosh and the whole team develope.

I'm not saying I'm a fan of the Williams' and zo's buyout. But it was something that had to be done. Atleast the raps got joey graham out of it.

All in all, good moves for Minny.
