Not sure if it's already been asked, and if it is just disregard this post. But on the real, I'm extremely happy he isn't in a Celts uniform. We would've started strong, but eventually as the season would wear on. Iverson would've demanded the ball more and become a distraction. Thoughts.
No, I'm not happy. It's the biggest reason I haven't been posting much in this Celtics forum. Everything pointed to AI on the Celtics, and I was really excited about it...but nothing happened and I've been left disappointed. I'm having a hard time even getting excited for the upcoming season, or excited about the team in general.

Two hungry superstars who are playing the best ball of their careers, I'm sure they would've made some noise.
Nope. Not happy at all. Was hoping the whole Ratliff, Telfair thing was a way to get AI and Pierce together with one of the young bigs and Gerald Green and some muscle and see what could happen. I love AI and really wanted to see him in the green though. I'd like to see us try to start winning some games and maybe get to the playoffs one of these years though too.
Looks like the Sixers beat out the Celtics again Iverson likes Philly. He's said that a million times.
If he were to be traded I don't think it would matter how much he likes it. It's going to come down to how much Philly likes him.

It would be great to have such an experienced talented player, on the other hand though Iverson is a really big name and could end up stealing the limelight from the young up and comers whether voluntarily or not
^Good point, I never really thought of that. To tell you the truth, I wish you guys got AI...and we would of got Foye.
I wouldn't be happy if I were a Celts fan. Iverson and Pierce together could have led you far into the playoffs. As a Sixers fan, I wouldn't mind AI getting traded as long as we got Al Jefferson, Telfair and Foye (the 7th pick) or something along those lines.
How can you not have thought that AI + Pierce would be a deadly combo? They would have undoubtedly made some noise. Iverson AND Pierce would have been so much trouble to any team. It would be a defensive nightmare..... Even as a non Celtics fan I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see that combo.
Well I can't really ever see Iverson anywhere else except Philly. Am I happy he didnt come Yes that I wouldn't of liked to of seen him leave Philly, No him and Pierce would of been really good together. But i think Telfair will be great in Celtics.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting miss3pointer25:</div><div class="quote_post">Looks like the Sixers beat out the Celtics again Iverson likes Philly. He's said that a million times.</div> I don't remember Philly beating the Celtics at anything that mattered, ever. And the other part of that ridiculous comment is totally moot. It doesn't matter if Iverson likes Philly, he has no power over a trade situation, none at all. He can't say to Billy King, "don't trade me, I don't want to be traded." Billy King could have said "I don't care what you think Allen, this is my team, and you don't belong on it anymore, don't let the door hit you on the behind on the way out." And that would have been that. To be honest, I still don't know what to make of this whole trade talk. Iverson is a great scorer, no question, with a great deal of heart, again, that's not up for debate, but his history as a member of the NBA is very unstable, and more than a little unsettling. And there's nothing else we can base our assumptions on besides his history. As a character guy, he is literally the bottom of the barrel, but at least he's honest in his distaste for the NBA way of doing things. As for his potential contribution to this team, he would almost certainly lead this team to an Atlantic title (again), poisoning young players with loads of potential along the way. Thrilla, I'm with you, I can't work up the anticipation to even pretend to be excited about this team. At least we have some youngsters we can enjoy watching grow up, but that's the long and short of it.
Iverson, IMO, is stupid for staying Philly. He needs to move on, its kinda obvious he isn't getting anywhere soon in that Sixer jersey.
As a Laker fan I'm happy to see Allen Iverson not wearing Celtic green this upcoming season. The duo of Iverson and Pierce is enough to make to the Finals in the East. I've always been a Paul Pierce fan, and after watching the excitement about the possibility of AI in Boston during his appearance on BDSP, he has to be distraught the deal didn't go through.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">How's he stupid for not having the ability to trade himself?</div> Its not that he doesn't have the ability to trade himself. Its that HE WANTS TO stay in Philly and stay a Sixer for the rest of his life. He has said that. And, he has never made it obvious he wants to be traded. He is just sticking around in Philadelphia getting love from fans and getting nowhere in his career ( championship wise ) ..

This entire situation can be blamed on Wally for just not being athletic enough that the Sixers would ever require his services.
If I were a Celtic fan, I would be really pissed that a trade didn't come through. From what I was hearing, Billy King pretty much agreed to trade AI to Boston for Wally, Al Jefferson, and Green, but then decided he wanted Telfair instead of Green, which ended the trade talks. If that was indeed true, Danny has to be out of his mind because you are basically trading away nothing to get one of the best players in the game in AI
Why would the Celtics want to trade some young, rising players for a player who can maybe put up 2-3 more good years? AI and Pierce would get you into the playoffs, but not a ring. Wait 2-3 years, make the right moves (keeping/moving the right pieces) and you have a team that has an aging veteran who is still efficient in Pierce, and a bunch of young stars (if not stars, good players) in Green, Jefferson, Perkins, West, Telfair. With that team, you are more balanced, and have as much a chance of making the playoffs as AI + Pierce, and IMO a higher chance of going furthur into the playoffs. I mean, if you made the trade, you potentially lose Jefferson, Telfair and maybe Green. Now, imagine if AI or Pierce has a bad game, then what do you do? You probably wouldn't have the depth for another player other than one of the two mentioned before to step up. With a balanced team, everyone can contribute, and with more options, even if one goes down, you have others to fall back on.
