<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHICAGO - With most needs met, an open roster spot and two weeks until training camp begins, the Chicago Bulls have the luxury of working out a wide variety of players to see if something strikes their fancy.

But few could have imagined this: Shawn Kemp will visit the Berto Center this week.

Ten years and three months after facing Michael Jordan and Co. in their prime as a member of the SuperSonics during the 1996 NBA Finals, the six-time All-Star would seem to have little chance to snag the final spot.

Retired since playing 79 games with Orlando in the 2002-03 season, Kemp, 36, has a past that includes a stint in rehabilitation for cocaine abuse, two arrests for marijuana possession and weight problems.

The Bulls already have Malik Allen, who can step out and hit the midrange jumper. Kemp was known as a solid but never spectacular shooter during his 14-year NBA career.

But Kemp, whose association with coach Scott Skiles dates to their formative basketball years in Indiana in the late 1980s, has been on a mission to return to the NBA since 2005.

Claiming he now weighs 257 pounds, three pounds lighter than in his prime, Kemp was arrested for marijuana possession in July. He told Seattle reporters the drugs were old and he hadn't used drugs since 2004.

    The court case is pending.

The Bulls also are expected to look at former Orlando center Andrew DeClercq.

Luke Schenscher, who averaged 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 20 games with the Bulls last season, is the leading candidate to fill the final roster spot.

I dont know? What can a 36 year old Kemp do for our Team? He hasnt played in years and his middle name is "trouble". But in reality if I have to choose between ANdrew, Kemp, and Luke ..................... Im still tempted to go for an elderly kemp.

    Go Bulls!!!

Eww no! I hope to God that they don't sign Kemp. I don't get what he could possibly do aside from average less a point on the bench and play the last seconds of each half. It would be like having an oversized Jud B on the squad.

I dont know, hes at playing weight. Luke sucks. Andrew aint much better. Aside from Kemps personal problems hes a solid player. Hes tuff and will grab some rebounds hit open jumpers and throw a few bows. I think if hes cleaned himself up he can be valuable to the bulls. But Im still not sure if I'd sign him. But When the options are Andrew and Luke................. Hey? What do you want me to do? Kemps in my head.

Luke wasn't that bad, he was a smart player. remember how he was doing against Shaq in the playoffs? he kept drawing fouls I think he even got a couple points in there but I'm too busy to check. But Kemp is proven player so I don't know what to say.....I'll let the boys in the office make the decisions.

Who cares if he makes the final roster, he's not even gonna get much playing time.

Being Bulls fans we all care. this move could make our team a little weaker or a little stronger. It could make us meaner in the inside or a little softer. with the bulls the Bench counts. We dont have a 1 man show like Iverson. We use Team work to win.

If the Bulls can get Kemp at minimum cost, why not? Kemp can still work the paint. If he did clean up he can still be good for 10 minutes.
