In Charlotte with Morrison and Wallace, Wells might have to come off the bench; while with just a little effort, Wells can beat out Battier for the starting shooting guard spot. I'd like Battier to start but having one of the two coming off the bench is a luxury.</div> I think Wells in Charlotte would still be getting a considerable amount of playing time playing behind Morrison and Wallace. At this point, Morrison probably won't be handling major minutes and Wallace, although a great defender, really isn't that big of an offensive threat. Thus, the Bobcats need someone that can handle more offensive pressure, which if they get him, will come in the form of Wells. On the other hand, Wells is obviously going to get less minutes with Houston, which also means his stats won't look quite as sexy, making it harder for him to get the money he wants next offseason. Thats why I think ultimately he's going to go to Charlotte for the money.
So I guess trade with Sac is a no go. The offer is probably the 2+mil left. If Charlotte got 9mil and M.Ely will push his contract up as far as possible. They will still have more than the Rockets can give him without a trade. If Wells is looking for a 1 year deal that would work out even better for the Bobcats. One thing to think about is the young team they are putting together in Charlotte. They have stacked young talent. Felton May Okafor Wallace Morrison Ely and are going in a very good direction as an organization. Bonzi himself is probably a better fit in Houston because a huge need is a 3rd scorer.

While that's yet to be proven, I don't think that Morrison will be relegated to the bench even if Wells outperforms him. Bernie Bickerstaff knows that bringing a veteran off the bench would provide him much more consistency. Wallace might not be as good a scorer as Wells, but he was arguably the Bobcats' MVP last season, and with Raymond Felton running the point, he'll be great in the open lanes. While money may be a big drawing point, I think Wells' eventual plan is to get more long-term money. If he plays for $2 million with the Rockets then gets a 4 year/$32 mil deal in free agency, as opposed to $6 million now with Charlotte then a 3 year/$17 mil deal in free agency due to lack of playing time in Charlotte, which would you think he should go for? The Rockets have a very legitimate chance, and with the Rockets, Wells pretty much would guarantee himself a chance to play for his next contract at a higher level - the NBA playoffs.
If I was Bonzi, I would rather not worry about the money much, and I would rather go to a championship contedning team. Who cares about money, it really doesnt matter, all that matters is if you win a championship. I would rather be on Rockets makin 4 miliion for 2 years, than to make 6 million with Charlotte

The extra 2 million is very tempting and if we were in his situation we might just go where the money is. Besides, is everyone stays healthy, the Bobcats could be surprising a lot of people. Don't be surprised if they contend for an 8th seed if Wells signs with them. Also Bonzi will want to log a lot of minutes too and I'm not so sure he'll be able to play as many minutes in Houston as he would be in Charlotte.
Is there like a way we can do a sign and trade with Kings? Like we can give Wells 4 million for 2 years and trade Head, or V-Span.
Kings don't want any other people because that would put them over luxury tax. Also you can't add players or draft picks with a trade exception so that is out of the question. I wouldn't trade Head and especially not Vspan for Bonzi Wells. Wells is 30 years old and Vspan hasn't touched an NBA floor yet. We know what he is capable of agaisnt NBA stars. Head is still a rookie to me until he plays in a second season.
I don't think I'm willing to trade Head or V-Span for one year of Bonzi Wells. If it was guaranteed that he'd be here for more than a season, then I'd consider it. Isn't Bonzi's 48 hours up already? lol I'm wishing that tomorrow when I visit an NBA website that theres a headline with "Bonzi signs with Rockets". Wishful thinking
Were over rating Bonzi Wells becuase he is the last free agent that can make an instant impact on a team. He is a headcase and the only thing he'll bring to this team is depth which no doubt we need. I am opposed to trading any rotational players for him.

TRANSLATION: We need to take that risk on a player with that much impact
Bonzi Wells not only gives us depth, but a solid sg that could possibly play the starting 2. He is the best FA on the market. Why not spend a little of our money on him? Instead of using it on NBDL players or something. he can get around 10 ppg.
A trade can always be seperate from each other but still equate to the same thing. Like Sura and VSpan for Corliss Williamson(expiring contract) Then the exception and picks or cash for Bonzi. Seperate trades. Doubt any of that happens but its an example. Well if he is admittedly the only FA on the market that can make and impact where is the overating part. I think he's the best FA too. To say that will help the team isn't over rating I don't think. Most have stated what Bonzi actually does. Post and rebound for a 2 guard. He's good at that. I don't expect anything from him he hasn't already shown, I just think It would be a good fit for Houston to get another scoring option.
Why trade Vspan who can potentially be the starting PG before the season is over. Bonzi Wells will be bumping one of the gaurds out of the rotation.
I agree with TmacGarnett, whichever way our lineup goes, it looks the best without Bonzi. And I dont think Bonzi is willing to be the Rockets' 6th man.
Every last one of you guys that says we're better off not taking a chance on renting Bonzi for a year are off your rocker.
I would love to get Bonzi for a year, believe me. But if it meant having to trade our rotational players that could be the future of this team, then I'd have to disagree. One year of Bonzi for a sophomore guard who could be our starting SG when Shane or T-mac are declining isn't worth it. Or perhaps we could include Head in a trade later on that would land us something better and more long term. I'm tired of makeovers. I want this team to be given a chance to gel for more than one season. Something the Rockets team hasn't gotten for the past 2 seasons.
Wow. It has been like way more than 48 hours. Whats the latest? And what are the chances? Any updates?
Kings don't want to deal so that leaves the offer of the 2+ mil left on the MLE. Somebody will offer him a little more, and thats where he'll go. Charlotte is still my bet just because of the money thing. I hope Sura makes it out of camp and comes back strong.
