Lately, everyone has been praising BC for his moves and everyone seems to be caught in the endless excitement/anticipation that's building up as we get close to Nov. 1st, but there are issues that haven't been worked out quite yet.

Yes we do, for the first time since Damon, have a pure, starting-caliber point guard in TJ; yes we do have a respectable Centre for the first time ever in Rasho (and maybe even Andrea); and yes we do have a decent bench, but my main concern with this roster is the rebounding ability, or lackthereof.

Anybody who's seen glimpses of this team in previous seasons (especially the last 3) knows full well how weak this team is on the glass. We do have 9 new players, but none of them (according to their stats last year in Europe/College/NBA) is known for their rebounding abilities. Actually I've seen both of Garbs and Bargs playe, and both of them are average rebounders at best.

The two decent rebounders on the team are Bosh (I think he can be better rebounding wise) and Ford, which is kind of scary seeing how we got hammered consistently on the glass.

That's why I think Humphris can crack the rotation quite easily if can snatch 6+ rebounds off the bench, which he's capable of doing.

We may overlook this now, but come December, this need will be quite noticable, again!

I think the players we have are capable of getting the boards, but they have to focus on getting them.

How many players averaged 6+ rebounds off the bench last year?

Jeff Foster 9.1 rpg in 25.1 mpg (37/63 games started)
    Dampier 7.8 rpg in 23.6 mpg (36/82)
Reggie Evans 7.5 rpg in 20.8 mpg (25/67)
    Charlie V 6.4 rpg in 29.1 mpg (36/82)
Donyell 6.1 rpg in 25.7 mpg (no starts)
    Nocioni 6.1 rpg 27.4 mpg (43/82 starts)

I tried to get players who came off the bench most of the time.

With his size and suprising mobility, he's more than capable of getting 6+ boards a game in 15-20 minutes.

I actually think PJ Tucker's going to be benefiting more from his rebounding ability.

That's the crappy thing about Sow being injured. Sow is the scrapper of the team, he doesnt really care about points he just does the little things like rebounds, blocks and diving for looseballs, taking a charge. Kinda of like what Haslem does for Miami. I know he's not enough to solve our rebounding problem but having him going for boards doesn't hurt. Does anyone know if he'll play at ALL, this season if so when?

Joey Graham I think has the tools to be an excellent rebounder. Also Garbojosa seems to be a strong positional rebounder judging from the FIBA world championships. But i do agree its a weakness. Reggie Evans was an intriguing Free Agent rebounding workhorse (albeit on dimensional) who resigned with Denver for 18mil over 5yrs. I was hoping Colangelo might make a run at him but he does carry a lot of baggage being labeled as a ball grabber and all.

I think one thing that should help our team rebounding this year is having Rasho in the centre. I don't necessarily expect him to get any more rebounds than he traditionally has but he'll be much harder for opposing teams to box out than say Lauren Woods was last year. So with an extra big body up front it should make it easier for someone like Bosh to sneak in and grab a few boards because the defense can't concentrate on him as much. I agree though that rebounds is still a huge weakness.

We will also have Trybanski a 7-2 center to replace Lauren Woods, but he will probably be a 12th man or something.

Rebounding is still an issue, but I don't think that it is that big of a problem now. The Raptors are certainly more well rounded this time around, although they still have many flaws.

Trybanksi is an interesting prospect. Here is the info on the raptors contract to him: Link I can't really see him making the 12 man active roster. I see the 10 man rotaion being:

    Rasho
    CB4
    F. Jones
    Mo Pete
    TJ Ford
    Joey Graham
    Garbajosa
    Andrea "The Godfather" Bargnani
    A. Parker
    Calderon

On the Bubble for the 12 man active roster: Kris Humphries, PJ Tucker, Uros Slokar, Darrick Martin.

Wild cards: Pape Sow depending on his health & I guess Trybanksi
