Donnie Nelson hopes to have the deal finalized prior to the start of training camp.

"Everybody prefers to find the common ground and get some security for both sides," Nelson said. "We're going in a decent direction and there's a pretty good possibility something can get done. But there's no real sense of urgency. If for some reason nothing happens, then he plays for us this season and we revisit it next summer."</div>

so, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to Vince Carter

I wouldn't mind Rashard Lewis if Josh Howard isn't avalible. 2 Howards would be even better though. (Josh, Dwight)

Rashard is good, but he cant defend. Diaw would be a good fit, but I think Carter here would make them contenders.

Rashard is a underrated defender (not good but underrated) he is by no means a poor defender IMO. I don't really think Boris really fits our system well plus where would we play him? Dwight and Darko are our C and PF and he's not really a SF and even if he could play SF is he really better than Grant or even Hedo. I'm not really a big Carter fan as he would command alot of money and he isn't the player he used to be...........he's not getting any younger.

I dislike Boris not because of anything such as his play or his personality, even though I've heard he is a REALLY nice guy, it's his whole "I want money" attitude. I think he was asking for 10 mil from the Suns. No way I want him in Orlando if he is eating our money like that. Something lower, at the most 7-8 mil, but no more than that. We'd be giving up too much money especially with the big three contracts I'm seeing in the future(Dwight, Darko, Diener, and Jameer).

I know for a fact Diener is going to ask for max and we better give it to him.

    Coincidence? I think not.

I wouldn't mind VC either but again only if it fits into our pocket books for the future. I like Josh Howard more so than VC though because J. Howard can bring things that VC can't. Not to mention what VC brings we don't need much of.

    Question for Magic fans:

How come most of you guys don't want Vince Carter on your team?

It would be nice to have a superstar on your team, but the Magic are a young, rebuilding team. I just don't want the Magic to be committed to a 30 year old player, but rather invest their money on a younger player such as Howard that is capable of being a good player in the long haul.

    Wha wha wha?

Who wouldn't want VC on their team?

With the amazing improving Dwight Howard, I'd love VC on the team. That is easily comparable to best duo's in the league!

Because he doesn't fit any needs at all. He brings scoring, we will have plenty of scoring this year. By the 07-08 season, Dwight Howard will be a legitimate #1 scorer. Hedo Turkoglu has already proven he can score at will and Jameer Nelson is a very clutch player that seemingly can score at will as well. Scoring isn't a problem at all for us. We need our SG to be a defensive minded player, since we have Hedo and Jameer starting at the other 2 spots. If we start Jameer, VC, and Hedo, then we would be a very bad defensive team. I would rather spend the money on a couple of players for added depth or a player like Josh Howard who fits the defensive need for a SG.

I wouldn't be mad or anything if we got VC, I just think we should look a different way if we want to win a championship.

I think you are selling Jameer and VC a bit short on their defensive abilities. By no means are they stoppers but they can still play D....

I would not like to see Jameer matched up with the bigger PG's on a regular basis and VC to be matched up with the best scorer on the opposing team.
