<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Camden High School basketball star Dajuan Wagner has agreed to a two-year contract with the NBA's Golden State Warriors.

Wagner's agent, Cherry Hill attorney Leon Rose, said Wagner would sign with the Warriors and report to their training camp in early October.

Wagner, the state's all-time leading scorer in boys' basketball with more than 3,400 career points, sat out of basketball last season with health issues.</div>

Dajuan Wagner is awesome. Love the guy.

Solid pick-up who can surely contribute. I just wished that Philli would have signed him.

wanger can definately score but I hope he doesn't cut into monta's minutes. At some point we'll probably see a lineup of Monta/Wagner/ Baron/ J-Rich and Dun at C

This guy can flat out ball. One of my teamates played with him at Memphis and he told he that he is a great guy, always nice to have those types in the locker room.

I would love to see Wagner make some kind of impact on this team, it`d be a good story too.

This guy is only 23, so it is way too early for teams to give up on him. It's a pretty interesting signing, as noted, it possibly may eat into Monta's minutes. It probably also means that the guys from Utah may not get many minutes. Further, it brings up the number of guaranteed contracts to 15. That doesn't mean someone doesn't get cut/sent to the D-League/is paid to be a benchwarmer or extra coach, but obviously there are only a few moves left that Mully could make.

Does anyone else think its kind of a puzzling move considering this guy hasn't played for about two seasons, and yet, he gets a two year contract? I didn't quite get the details of the deal though moneywise, so I could just be blowing smoke out my ass. But still, his game isn't exactly one that translates into the NBA because of his height, and unlike guys like Iverson, he doesn't have the ball handling to be that big of a force in the league.

The guy once scored 100 points in a highschool game -- that's pretty cool. But no, I think from his post-operation workouts he has proven he's ready to come back to the NBA. I wouldn't be suprised if several teams were taking a look -- perhaps the Warriors had to offer 2 years to get him.

I think it'll end up being a very good move, because GS will be paying pennies for a guy who could end up being a good starter in the league.

I disagree. I think his height and shoot first mentality mean that he will never be a starter. At best I think he can be an Eddie House type of instant offense off the bench.

My thoughts as well. He is a good player, but by no means starter material PG, only if need be. If he dropped that shoot first mentality I can see him being a great player though.

He is no doubt a great 6th man and instant offensive spark off the bench nonetheless.

Great sign, good to see this kid back in business.

So does this mean we can finally play Baron at center? [IMG]

    PG: Monta Ellis
    SG: Dajaun Wagner
    SF: Keith Mcleod
    PF: Andre Owens
    C: Baron Davis

Wurz our small forward here? Don't tell me it'll be Dun and Pietrus again. :*( Anybody have any insight to what will happen with our team full of 8 guards?

I wish we could add on another swing. Maybe we get lucky and wind up with the B.A. Free agent Bonzi Wells.

It's 2 years at minimum salary and non-guaranteed so its not really a risk at all. They probably only tacked on the extra year to outbid the other teams who had some interest in him.

Pretty much agree but he should fit into Nellie's system fine since height and defense aren't of much value to him. I know he can score but does he have a very good jump shot? If so he should be able to find time as a backup 1/2, maybe playing with Dunleavy so that there will be some ball movement.

He has a good jumper, as well as he can hit the three.

I think that this is a sign that Baron is going to see time at shooting guard and Monta, Wagner, Dunleavy will see time at PG. I expect to see McLeod, Owens gone.

I just had a quick look at his career stats and I have to say that his shooting numbers give me the willies [IMG]

Yeah, can he even shoot? But on the plus side is we got several guards that won't have the same problems that Fisher had, which are inability to create a shot and get it inside through traffic. But they don't have Fisher's strengths of being able to drain an open three (or contested) and to make free throws (I bet). Plus, I don't know if DW's defense / passing is as good as Fisher's. These role players are hard to judge because they are not complete players by any means. Plus, DJ can only play shooting guard because he is plain awful as point guard. He will makes guys cringe if he is not scoring well. But he can create at least. LOL.

    I like DW's age.

He's a decent shooter, a threat from beyond the arc if you leave him open. He's more of an explosive scorer that can get to the rim rather than a good jumpshooter.

Still, I'm so happy for him. Ellis' game reminds me of his.

Well, if the deal is near minimum, why not? After all, he has a potential to be decent to even special. And, the reason why he came to here is because Nelson and his small ball style. The only negative side is his game is very similar to Monta, so there is a chance that Wagner may delay Monta's development. But, other than that, I really like this signing...

DW hasn't stepped on the court and he is already playing better defense than Fisher ever did. I thought Fisher was slow footed but when i saw tree go by fisher he was done. And what did he do? REach.... that is it. Oh and stand there with his hands on his hips watching his man get to the rim. I am pretty sure sagging off your man then walking slowly with your hand raised in the air is not what Monty had in mind for fisher .... not exactly closing on his man. Fisher did one thing, spot up and hit a wide open J. If contested it became a fall away nightmare. He was the worst defender on the floor at all times. In fact he was truly "the worst" W.O.R.S.T Waste Of Roster Space Totally
