<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Knicks coach Larry Brown has already bolted town - and has moved his family from Greenwich, Conn., to Philadelphia, The Post has learned.

Brown, who is set to face Knicks owner James Dolan in high-stakes arbitration Friday in Manhattan, wanted his two children to return to their former school, the prestigious Episcopal Academy in Lower Merion, Pa.

But Brown's departure for his old haunt, Philly, where he coached a career-high six seasons, raises speculation he could soon join the Sixers' front office in an advisory capacity after he settles his contract with the Knicks, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.

Brown's best friend in the league still is Sixers GM Billy King and Brown had a very strong relationship with Philly owner Ed Snider. The Sixers are coached by Maurice Cheeks, Brown's former Sixers assistant. When Brown bolted Orlando's pre-draft camp a day early after Isiah Thomas snubbed him last June, King, on request of Brown's wife, Shelly, flew home with him on a charter.</div>

Good luck is he joins you.

That's all I have to say.

That would be cool if he came back here..then we could just shift Mo to Assistant Coach.

i wouldnt mind having larry brown in the front office. at least he is known for forming a defense-orientated team. Besides the teams best success in the past ten years was when he was coach.

Brown took the Sixers to the finals. I think with work he could do the same with the team they have now. I wouldn't mind seeing Larry back.

From a Knicks view I can see where you're coming from, but you gotta understand his 1 bad year doesn't smudge his numerous successful ones, especially with the Sixers. [IMG]

At this point in time if I was a Sixer fan I would want him as well.

Yeaah.you can't really base if off of one year, because you got to remember one thing, the man has gotten us to numerous playoff appearences and even a finals run..and I also think we need someone to REALLY emphasize defense to some of the young guys, because Mo hasn't really been preaching it to them enough. This team needs a tough coach like Larry Brown to get anywhere this year or the next.

For a minute I forgot Larry Brown got Philly to the Finals. Still, I would be a bit cautious of him and his inconsistencies.

I would never ever want Larry Brown in any position to trade or waive players. This is the same guy who wanted the Knicks to waive 9 players last season including Nate Robinson. The same guy who wanted us to trade Allen Iverson for a while. Brown as a GM would be worst than Isiah Thomas imo. As far as Brown returning to the team, I don?t see it happening. His family lived in the Philadelphia area for a while he likes the area his children have lives here. I think that is what influenced him to move back. I am not sure if I would welcome Larry back to the team. I mean to me it?s like he dumbed us a few years ago, but now that he has run out of options wants us back.

I wouldn't mind it, but you have to remember Larry isn't going to settle for an assistant position under Mo Cheeks. The Sixers would probably tell Mo to re-sign then hire Larry if he were to come back.

I would absolutely love for Larry to come back. He can coach and develop Iverson into a more of an assister while still scoring a lot.

I think if Larry were to come back to the Sixers, it would be a completely different situation than in New York. I don't think he would change the starting 5 as much as he did in New York. The Sixers players were more reliable.

It's not even like the Knicks players were "less" reliable. I personally think the Knicks have a better team as well as a better bench than the Sixers. Who knows why Larry Brown changed it up so much but I doubt it was because they weren't "reliable". The only one that I would give that label to is Q-Rich.

Maybe reliable wasnt the word I was looking for. Maybe more consistent than the Knicks.

The only reason the Knicks were so inconsistent was because of the multiple starters and messed up chemistry. I'm not disagreeing with you though that Larry would improve things. I think if Larry came back the Sixers would atleast be in a battle to keep a playoff spot rather than chasing one.

Actually would've it be more of his consistencies? He only has one way he likes to play, and if you can't play that way, he's not willing to adjust.

    That's why I think he's overrated.

It's a good thing that LB doesn't adjust, he's asking you to do the simplest things to win basketball games, and if you can't apply individual succcess, your not going to apply team success. All LB asks of his players, is to contest the shot, grab the rebound and take care of the basketball. To say that's a bad coach is ridicilious. I'd love to play for Larry Brown, I'd hate to be a New York Knick, that roster is so terribly bulit, it reminds me of the Vancouver Grizzlies. (Note I said VANCOUVER) Even when they drafted Mike Bibby, they were still in the lottery. Even with Pao Gasol (Now Memphis Grizzlies) I STILL think they're a lottery team. That's as disgraceful as it gets, but the sad thing is, the Knicks could be worse, they could draft Greg Oden and STILL suck.
