<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> MIAMI ? A week from the start of training camp, Heat coach Pat Riley acknowledged concerns about where his championship team stands at point guard. Riley said Tuesday that Jason Williams not only won't be ready for the Oct. 3 open of camp, but that his starting point guard also could miss the Oct. 31 start of the regular season as he recovers from July 21 arthroscopic knee surgery. "I have had that same surgery, so I know how sore it gets," Riley said. "You definitely don't want to come in here and kill him and then he's back to where he was. We're going to let him get all the way back. "I'm not going to mess around with Jason at all until he's 100 percent." Because of the uncertainty with Williams, and because the only other veteran point guard under contract is 38-year-old Gary Payton, Riley said his focus has been adding another prospect at the position. "It'll probably be a younger player that can make threes and pick up the ball [defensively]," he said. Failing that, Riley said he might turn to Chris Quinn, the undrafted 6-foot-2 free agent out of Notre Dame who has been with the team since July's summer league. "He's very methodical, runs, doesn't turn it over, makes every open shot," Riley said. "He's one guy that's sort of a prototype point guard that I think would fit in and be able to play off the experience we have." Riley said two other personnel issues remain up in the air. He said his interest has been piqued in free-agent guard Bonzi Wells, who visited last week. That, in turn, could impact a return by veteran swingman Shandon Anderson. "It stopped everything," Riley said of his meeting with Wells. "I thought it was very productive. It's really up to him."</div> Source
