49ers offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy has been offered the Head Coaching job of the Packers.. This is a bunch of BS... The end of the Pack as we know it.. I'm not sure what TT saw in him..
I did not know he was interviwed let alone a candidate. Has he acepted? Wasn't he the OC in N'awlins for awhile? If so then TT is as stupid as others have said.

Here's the sad story.. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2288985
There were so many better coaches. The 49ers offensive coordinator?? they have one of the worst offenses!! I would have much rather see Bates or Donnie Henderson leading that team
Yeah he did a slendid job with Good ole Alex Smith.. 1 TD and 11 INT I wonder what's instored for Rodgers.
The only reason TT brought in this guy is so that Favre wouldnt have to learn a new offense. This guy will probly be out in a few years after Favre is gone
please Favre is as good as gone with this hire.. There was a reason why Ray Rhodes and the entire coaching staff was fired in one season..
I don't like the fact that people are saying that this is to keep Favre. If we wanted too keep Favre we would of hired Mooch and even though Mooch doesn't want to coach this season or so he claims.. if the right price was offered he gladly coach the Pack because of his reputation here and he is a fan favorite.. McCarthy is Thompson's way to maintain control.. Now this is completely Thompson's team... to build and do whatever he pleases.. I just hope that we can retain Jim Bates but I'm beginning to think that is unlikely now..
It isnt such a bad hire. Cant judge him by SF, he has done good work with a lot of QBs. They could have found someone better, but this may turn out good too.
McCarty would be very stupiud to get rid of Jim Bates. He was the only thing good on this horrible team
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>McCarty would be very stupiud to get rid of Jim Bates. He was the only thing good on this horrible team</div> He may not have a choice. I think bates shoud be able to find top job for himself
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>McCarty would be very stupiud to get rid of Jim Bates. He was the only thing good on this horrible team</div> Well I'm sure he's going to want to bring Bates back in for the last year on his contract but I'm not sure if Bates is going too want to stick around any longer.. I still don't see why you get rid of someone like Mike Sherman and replace him with Mike McCarthy who hasn't done much to even deserve this shot.. Though Mike Sherman was a out of the blue hire after only a year as Seattle's offensive coordinator... This is some what shocking to me.. This was the last guy I thought that would be a Head Coach. I disagree with the decision but I guess Packer fans have no choice but to give benefit of the doubt..
Well, I think we know who won't be winning the NFC North next year. This was the guy who was the OC for New Orleans as well. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Cant judge him by SF, he has done good work with a lot of QBs.</div> Why not? I don't know what was going on there, but why should SF not factor into this guys reputation?
Somebody please tell me this is an early april fools joke... Ted Thompson I sware if this doesn't work out you will pay

But, i am not so sure that is what will happen.

Press conference is scheduled for 5 est.. today.. GB was interested in Iowa coach Kirk Ferenz supposedly and when he took his name out of the NFL coaching hat, we quickly gave McCarthy the job. My guess is TT wanted to see if he could set up an interview with Ferenz.. I give Thompson some credit. He's no Matt Millen. He interviewed 8 candidates..
Bates is as good as gone. He is EXTREMELY disappointed that he didn't get the job. He purposedly held off interviewing elsewhere so he could concentrate on Green Bay. He said today, though, that he's going to aggressively "get out there" and start looking at what's left. I'm willing to give this new chump a chance, but it grates on me that we fired Sherman only to replace him with an unknown commodity who led San Francisco to the WORST OFFENSIVE OUTPUT and THREE LOWEST QB RATINGS in the NFL this year. Nice move, Teddy... *sigh*
