I think Ted Thompson is trying to make this team horrible. He needs to be replaced

Hey Ted you definitely are not Ron Wolf, not even close, what a mistake, Bates should have been your man!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Bates is as good as gone. He is EXTREMELY disappointed that he didn't get the job. He purposedly held off interviewing elsewhere so he could concentrate on Green Bay. He said today, though, that he's going to aggressively "get out there" and start looking at what's left.

I'm willing to give this new chump a chance, but it grates on me that we fired Sherman only to replace him with an unknown commodity who led San Francisco to the WORST OFFENSIVE OUTPUT and THREE LOWEST QB RATINGS in the NFL this year. Nice move, Teddy...

    *sigh*</div>
Yukk.... I think I just throw up in my mouth.. This guy just doesn't seem like the guy that can lead a team like Bates can. The reasoning behind the hiring was that they felt comfortable around one another.. That's a bunch of BS.. Thompson seems to be ruining this team.. McCarthy signed a 3 year deal. He?s also the youngest coach in the NFL now at 42.

Well he did have the #3 or #4 overall offense in New Orleans in I believe 2002 or 2001.. Although I disagree with the hire 100% and Bates should of been the coach but this guy is regarded as a young talented offensive minded coach.

He was also QB coach for the Packers during the Ray Rhodes era, shudder.

TT should get run out of town now before it's to late. Iv'e been saying it ever since Ted Thompson was hired, look at the Cap Hell he put Seattle in for awhile with Hassleback, Alexander and Walt Jones man!

If Favre is smart he won't comeback to this team(although Iv'e heard McCarthy and him are good buddies).

Though Seattle might be in a cap mess right now but they are contending for a Super Bowl and if Thompson can turn GB into a similar team like the 04 or 05 Seahawks I'll give him some credit.. Bates too me is much more deserving and would of made a better coach. Now this guy could be the next Jeff Fisher or Jon Gruden for all we know. I just wouldn't bet on it..

I could do a better job running the packers. I wouldnt hire a coach who is the offensive coordinator of the worst offenses in the league in the 49ers and a coach that when he was with the packers QB coach Favre threw 22 ints.

Exactly, but hey I'll take 22 to 28 any day lol. But Still I sure hope this doesn't blow up in our face, TT had better draft A.J Hawk and then I just may forgive him, if he drafts DeMario Williams I may shoot my self(JK) I think D Williams is good but seems to get caught up with blockers far to long, Manny Lawson was the one getting double teamed in their bowl game and Williams had major problems shedding college linemen, let alone NFL linemen.

Mario Williams has also had an history of being lazy.. Reminds me of Cledius Hunt's attitude..

LenDale White and AJ Hawk are the two guys I want to see GB draft.. Now obviously they may look at Williams who is a freak of nature but too me Hawk is just to solid of a player to pass up and White I believe is going to be as solid as a RB in this draft..

I myself believe White to be the better Running Back of the Bush/White Combo, Bush is not as good of a pure Back but he can hurt you in so many other ways, Wideout, Special Teams etc.

You think White would slip into the 2nd round? I seriously doubt it but woulden't it be great?! I wonder if White entering wil decrease any of the other backs stock, possibly DeAngello Williams or Laurence Mauroney specifically.

White isn't slipping into the 2nd round.. I guess Green Bay will consider taking White at pick #5 if they can't trade down.. White, Hawk, Ngata, and Mario Williams are the names I'm hearing that the Pack will consider..

It def hurts Maroney and Williams isn't a bruising type back like White is so it's really which type of back you like better. I guess McCarthy likes a bruiser so that's why White's name is being mentioned to the Packers.. GB isn't that high on DeAngelo Williams at least heading into the combine and workouts..

I don't know how McCarthy can say this is NOT a rebuilding year for the Packers...

    - Favre is probably gone
    - Aaron Kampan and Grady Jackson are both free agents
    - Jim Bates probably won't stay
    - Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport are both free agents
    - No one knows if Javon Walker will come back 100% from injury
    - William Henderson will probably retire

Nope...we're not rebuilding at all. WTF?

Wow just read in the paper that Bates was very confident that he was going to be the next Packer Head Coach. His interview was said to be very well prepared and Thompson only hired McCarthy because of the comfort level he had while doing the interview.

Bates was so confident he called up Brett Favre after the interview and told him what he plans on doing if he is hired as Head Coach.. Mooch's agent represents Bates as well and if Bates were named coach there was a lot of speculation that he would indeed offer the offensive coordinator job too Mooch and that would of probably brought Favre back...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (porky88)</div><div class='quotemain'>Press conference is scheduled for 5 est.. today.. GB was interested in Iowa coach Kirk Ferenz supposedly and when he took his name out of the NFL coaching hat, we quickly gave McCarthy the job. My guess is TT wanted to see if he could set up an interview with Ferenz.. I give Thompson some credit. He's no Matt Millen. He interviewed 8 candidates..</div>
One theory making the rounds is that Russ Grimm would like the Detroit job, and that's why Green Bay hired Mike McCarthy on Thursday and canceled the visit it had scheduled with Grimm on Friday -- the day after Matt Millen met with Grimm in Pittsburgh.

Is this guy Wisonsin Sen. Joe McCarthy's grandson?
They sure do look alike. 8)
