Melvin Ely signed a one-year, $3 million qualifying offer with the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday after turning down offers from Golden State and Phoenix. Ely, a 6-foot-10 power forward, had until Sunday to accept the Bobcats' offer or work out a sign-and-trade deal with another team. Ely said the Suns were prepared to give him a multiyear deal while the Warriors were offering a one-year contract.

Nice....Ely wants to stay here. He's a good, underrated big man that always does a good job filling in for Emeka when he's out.
I like him as a player but I just don't think we have room for him. We are overstocked on big men (that is probably a good thing with the injury problems this team had last year) but we have May and Othela that can playe backup minutes and G-Dub, Hermann, and Bernard Robinson that can all play spot minutes at the 4. It is a good signing, as hes a good player, but we should have traded him when we had a chance to fill in another spot. Who knows maybe we trade him tommorow but if we don't we will lose him next offseason
