http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-w...ov=ap&type=lgns Looks like we got Matt Barnes (SF), Dijon Thompson (GF), Anthony Roberson (G)
Roberson is probably a long shot to make the team. Thompson has a good chance since none of our swings can really shoot. Barnes will probably get in because there's no real defensive guys at the wing. I'm guessing we will waive Utah guys except for Devin Brown.
I really enjoyed watching Dijon Thompson play for UCLA. I've seen completely take over a game on both ends and just will the Bruins to a victory. Unfortunately, the amazing Dijon only shows up 1 in 3 games, and the two bad games he has, he's unbearable. I thought Phoenix would be an ideal situation for him when he first came into the league, but he didn't last long there. The coaching staff reported he was lazy and questioned whether or not he liked playing basketball. Matt Barnes is a scrapper, I could see Nellie taking a flyer on him and making a move to free up a roster spot. Anthony Roberson -- no chance

Rare combination of strength and finesse ... Exceptional rebounder (averages almost 9 boards a game) ... Steady ... Doesn’t get too up or too down on himself ... Great crunch-time nerves ... Solid leadership skills ... At 6'8", has great size for NBA 2-guard ... Long arms ... Outstanding post feede ... Very smart player. Makes the correct decision with the ball more often than not ... Man he'd fit in with some of our players I bet. Thompson would probably be too weak to play SF (He is lighter than Jamaal Crawford almost), maybe and maybe too slow and too big of a liability to play shooting guard. But a guy like Barnes could be on the bubble of being an nba bench player for small forward. He kind of comes in and out of the league. I just hope we have some small forward depth...
I like all three of these guys. Barnes and Thompson can play and I hope the W's can find spots on the roster, Roberson I definitely agree, is a long shot. Barnes is the type of player the W's need to add a spark and some hustle to the team. He's the type of player that I think of as a Josh Howard - hustle leads to points and rebounds - type player. Barnes and Thompson can add some depth, experience, and athleticism to the SF/PF position.
Someone will have to get put on the inactive list or get cut for roster room to open up for one of these guys. Devin Brown is the most likely to get cut, as he has the cheapest buyout (it costs less to cut him and sign two minimum players than it is to pay him for the season). Still, he's more of a sure thing than either Thompson or Barnes. I liked these guys in college, but I don't know how their games translate to the NBA either. Hopefully they have a good training camp.
Devin Brown was on the Spurs and Jazz at least (Popavich and Sloan). That tells me the player is at least reliable enough on both ends to occupy a 12th spot. I could see Thompson get yanked pretty easily. I'm guessing it's Barnes that'll probably make the team and we waive all other guards except Devin Brown (since he won't be that undersized for shooting guard and he's the closest thing we have to a backup small forward next to Pietrus and Dunleavy who are not really reliable small forwards either).
Brown was waived today probably due to luxury tax reason. I would like Warriors to at least give him a chance, but I guess that can't be helped...
Here's the link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-w...ov=ap&type=lgns You know... I dont' know about you guys, but I'm terrified about how many players on our roster can't even shoot over 40% now... 2 of the three Utah guys, Dajuan Wagner, Baron Davis... uggggg... Devin Brown at least shot something better. Let's see how well a lighter (-15lbs) and apathetic Baron Davis and a Dajaun Wagner minus a colon can do... Maybe those Jazz guys will go as well, but I'd like to check out this Andre Owens guy even though his stats show he can't shoot.
Well, when our offense was constructed to hoist 3 pts, it's inevitable that our shooting % will suffer. But, there are couple reasons to be optimistic. One is that when we run, we shot higher %. And, Nelson will make sure that we will run. Second is that players shoot higher % when they are in a good offensive structure. Despite not having any dominating big man, Suns' shooting % was no. 1 in last year, and Nelson and Dallas club also ranked top 10 in shooting %. So, there is a hope... At least, that's what I would like to believe...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kwan1031:</div><div class="quote_post">So, there is a hope... At least, that's what I would like to believe...</div> Real hope or false hope... it's all the same to us Warrior fans.
Instead of hope, it's more like hype. I understand we've got a better system for the guys we have on our team, but it's the guys I'm concerned about on our team. They suck at a lot of things. Some other team will find an easy way to exploit them if they manage to get up for them by halftime.
