No clue. Training camp just started. Giving Nelson likes Dunleavy Jr. and small ball it'll probably be like this because of all the guards we have:

    PG: Monta Ellis
    SG: Dajaun Wagner
    SF: Baron Davis (point forward)
    PF: Jason Richardson
C: Mike Dunleavy Jr. (point center)

Honestly, I think Nelson will try out the same lineup as last year

    PG: Baron
SG: Monta Ellis or Wagner (whoever kicks ass in training camp)
    SF: Jason Richardson
    PF: Mike Dunleavy Jr.
    C: Troy Murphy

I think it will fail miserably as no starting power forward or center can block shots and we'd just be trading baskets because they other team would get 50%-80% or higher % in the paint everytime if they wanted to, not to mention the shooting guard and small forward would be liability on taller matchups that can post up and shoot. In a slower pace of game, Dun and Murph would get owned in the post.

The other thing is in order to start the fast break we need the other team's guys to miss their shots. That means attempting to block or alter the opponents shots so they re-adjust their shot and miss. If they make their shots, we have to inbound the ball and get slowed down.

I think Shapecity was right on.

I have long wanted to see MOST of the things Nellie is talking about---the big exception being Dun as PF...which I doubt lasts because Ike will have games where he's unstoppable--meanwhile Troy's getting 15 boards and Dun is airballin' a 3. That would not light the little 15w bulb above Monty's head-never did-but Nellie will take notice.

Foyle at 260 could jump. At near 280..he had damn little hops. Less pork in the butt will mean more shotblock threat and better quicks.

All the same-Nellie's gonna notice that Biedrens-Taft-O'Bryant are big men with some talent. We won't be all-mini all the time. Wagner will play less than Monta and Pietrus---defense. Monta or Pietrus can also have a 20 pt game...seen that.

Let's not talk about Foyle, because at 260 weight down from 280, he still can't catch or make a layup. [IMG]

Agree with the try something new approach. Depends on which rookie guy shows up. Lot of guys are exposed pretty badly when it comes to something like foul shooting, foul trouble, or inconsistency. Zarko would have been great as a passing and scoring threat, but the guy couldn't hit and he wasn't proving himself in the minutes he did get.

I am down with your thinking REREM, but I am not so hard on the blame when it comes to the former coach. I blame our players mostly and our GM. At least Monty got into the hall of fame for something and had decent big men at Stanford. Guys like Fisher, Dun, Murphy, Foyle just cannot get it done when our biggest stars are not that hot. Our bench was non-existant except for rookies but they did not play much. That was Montys fault IMO but that is his style like Larry Brown.
