As far as youngsters go...who do you guys think has the most potential in the Celtics currently? I think Gerald Green is going to be a great player one day. And as the years progress I see West advancing his game. Those are the two players I'm most looking forward to developing. How about you guys?
West is definitely high on my list of guys to watch, but Bassey is going to have to be exciting too, if he ever wants another contract. I think we should see more of West in a two spot, which is where he should be, because of Wally's inability to get particularly healthy. Gerald Green, in his second season, and with very few minutes under his belt, is all of a sudden a main contributor in this rotation (minutes-wise), so he better have shaped up his defense considerably in the off-season, otherwise it's going to be a frustrating year. I expect Tony Allen to advance by leaps and bounds as well. Perk gets the nod as well. And I can't wait to watch Leon Powe, and see if all that off-season work pays off.
Al will improve. If everything that I'm reading about him is true, then could have a monster year. For some reason, I don't see Gerald Green improving a whole lot this year. And only other guy that should put out some solid numbers is Gomez.
In light of the article about nines in practice, I think we can disregard what I said about Delonte and Wally. Go ahead and just flip those around, and that's what's really going on.

The difference is that experience is really the only way a tremendously athletic and capable player gets any better, and seemingly, neither Al nor Green has come terribly far in that way. I know that sounds like a ridiculous statement, but neither of them has been healthy enough or useful enough to really make a difference for this team. Without those minutes logged, we aren't going to see those leaps and bounds out of either of those players, while players like a Gomes or a Delonte made themself useful by having that college experience and readiness NOW to play.
The homer in me wants to say Leon Powe, but at best he'll be a solid role player in the league. He doesn't have the flashy game to be considered a superstar, similar to the perception of Elton Brand. The player I've been impressed with most out of the group is Gomes. He's instant production off the bench and doesn't do anything to hurt his team. Gomes doesn't let his lack of height effect his rebounding or ability to score in the post. He understands how to fully extend on his jumpshot and uses leverage to outwork a taller player for a rebound. With the NBA frontcourts shifting to more athletic, quicker players, Gomes has a better chance to compete. The only aspect of his game he needs to improve on is ball handling. Once Gomes learns how to create off the dribble for himself he'll be hard to check on defense.
I would think Gerald Green has the most potential at this point. He is looking more and more comfortable with his shot every day. He has the ability to play some good defense with those long arms of his, but he just needs to get a little more comfortable with the system and with the NBA in general; he should be great! Though, I have to say this Rondo kid does not look to shabby either. I'd like to see his performance in a few more games to see if he continues to play at the level he has in the first two preseason games. If so, I might have to change my pick to Rondo
They were saying on FSN (I think it was Tuesday, but I'm not sure) that by the end of the season Gerald Green was going to be the #2 scoring option on the team. Even ahead of Wally. Now I don't see this happening, but does anyone else agree with this?
^I've heard people saying that as well. Hell, Green and his nine fingers may end up being the number one option in the near future.
Rajon Rondo, Sebastian Telfair and Gerald Green are gonna be great players. They all have alot of potential.

Well ill do my three favourite ones. Perkins- Best case scenario the next ben wallace, with about as much O lol Worst case scenario- Eric Dampier, with Ben Wallace O. Green- Best case scenario the next T-Mac(yes i knwo youve heard it before) Worst case scenario is abit tougher something like D. Mason. Big Al- Best case scenario honestly a rich mans PJ Brown(in prime) lol can see im not a big Jefferson fan? Worst case scenario is pretty much just last year over and over again. And to answer GERALD GREEN, his athletiscism is damn scary.
The best thing about the celtics is that they have 4 or 5 guys with scary potential...rondo and west with their high basketball IQ, rondo and green with their amazing athleticism, big men like Al and Perk, a flashy but talented point guard in bassy, if they all get better then this team could be amazing next year, when pierce is 30 and still in his prime
