1. Will the Gators repeat? No. There's a good chance of it happening, but I'd have to give the nod to either Kansas or North Carolina for reasons mentioned in the other thread. 2. Who will be in the Final 4? North Carolina Kansas Florida Arizona Darkhorses: Georgia Tech, Ohio State, and Wisconsin 3. Who will be the #1 1 seed? North Carolina 4. Who are your sleeper team picks? Sleepers to be elite: Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Virginia Sleepers to crack the top 25: Michigan, Oregon, and Virginia Tech 5. Who are your First and 2nd team All-Americans? I've had a few changes of opinion since when we did these this summer: 1st Team Ron Steele (Alabama) Arron Afflalo (UCLA) Curtis Sumpter (Villanova) Joakim Noah (Florida) Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina) 2nd Team Acie Law IV (Texas A&M) Chris Lofton (Tennessee) Alando Tucker (Wisconsin) Josh McRoberts (Duke) Aaron Gray (Pittsburgh)* * - Substitute with Greg Oden if he recovers in time to be eligible. 6. Who are some sleepers for 1st/2nd team All-Americans? The freshmen who have to play a year of college ball because of the new NBA age restrictions. Most of us have forgotten the impact that some of these players can have because they've all been bolting for the NBA, but players like Daequan Cook, Kevin Durant, Thaddeus Young, Spencer Hawes, Chase Budinger, and of course, Greg Oden, all have great chances of finishing as All-Americans. 7. What team will be the "George Mason" of this year? (which non BCS school will make the deepest run in the tourney) Excluding non-BCS teams who are expected to do well like Gonzaga, Nevada, UAB, Memphis, and the A-10 schools, my pick would be Loyola-Chicago. 8. Who will be the National Player of the Year? Tyler Hansbrough 9. What conference will be the toughest this year? The Big East just because they have so many teams, but when you take them out of the equation, it'd be the SEC. 10. Who will win the regular season and conference championships of the ACC? Who are some ACC sleeper teams/players? Since conference tournaments are brief, single-elimination tournaments that are really unpredictable and somewhat meaningless, I'm just going to predict the regular season champs for all of these conferences. Conf. Champs: North Carolina Sleeper Teams: Virginia and Virginia Tech Sleeper Players: Mamadi Diane (Virginia, SG) and Deron Washington (Virginia Tech, SF) 11. Who will win the regular season and conference championship for the Big East? Who are some sleeper BIg East teams/players? Conf. Champs: Georgetown Sleeper Teams: DePaul and St. John's Sleeper Players: Marcus Johnson (UConn, SG) and Sam Young (Pittsburgh, F) 12. Who will be on the All-Freshman 1st and 2nd teams? 1st Team Tywon Lawson (North Carolina) Daequan Cook (Ohio State) Kevin Durant (Texas) Derrick Caracter (Louisville) Greg Oden (Ohio State) 2nd Team Mike Conley (Ohio State) Chase Budinger (Arizona) Thaddeus Young (Georgia Tech) Brandan Wright (North Carolina) Spencer Hawes (Washington) 18. Who will be the "Joakim Noah's" of the year?(in that they sat the bench or barely played last year, but with a more prominant role they become a star) Marcus Johnson (UConn, SG) 19. Who will be the Freshman of the Year? Kevin Durant (Texas)* * - Substitute with Greg Oden if he recovers in time to be eligible. 20. Who is your National Champion? If I had to pick one, North Carolina, but don't hold me to that, because like I've been saying, there are a few teams on the same level.
