<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Spend a few days at Minnesota Timberwolves training camp and you?ll realize one thing is for certain: Extremely high expectations have already been placed on rookie first-round draft pick Randy Foye. The team has a clear first option in Kevin Garnett, but after that, head coach Dwane Casey said the plan is for Foye to be next in line. ?We needed a guy who can create his own shot, especially late in the game in a tight situation when the other team stops your first and second option,? Casey said. ?Now you can throw it to somebody who can create a shot.? Foye had a knack for being his team?s main option and the player the team would go to late in the game during his senior season at Villanova, and it?s a role he openly embraces. ?My ability to get to the basket and get fouled is my strength,? Foye said. ?So they always gave me the ball at the end of the game to make plays.? Casey added: ?He?s done it at Villanova and he can do it for us here.? There?s little reason to doubt Foye. He was named Big East Player of the Year after averaging 20.5 points per game his senior year and was named the Las Vegas Summer League?s MVP after averaging 24.8 ppg. Such performances have already put him in position to be a favorite for the league?s rookie of the year award by some. ?I really don?t pay too much attention to that,? Foye said. ?It?s a long way from the end of the year, and I haven?t even played one game yet.? As a rookie with such high expectations, one would think that Foye would have to prove himself as a dominant player in the league first, but he sees things as the complete opposite. ?I?ve got nothing to prove individually,? Foye said. ?The main thing is I just want to win games.?</div> Source
I hope Mike James can deal with this or maybe just become our 3 point specialist. I hope Foye can adjust quickly for the sake of the team and Foye. He is going to have tons of pressure on him if he doesnt do well right away.
So, does this mean that Foye will be starting and, if so, who's going to the bench? As far as James, I don't know how well he'll react to this. He's going to want his shots, and to be named the #3 option at best, might not sit well with him. We shall see though.
I feel sorry for McCants, he looks like he'll be traded soon with the addition of Foye, maybe to the bobcts where he can play with his old buddies from Carolina

His value is at an all-time low right now, and if healthy, will give us (hopefully) a killer backcourt of Foye, James, RD, Hassell, and McCants. He is also one of our few young players.
right, but what im saying is, now on nba.com if you go to fantasy updates it says Foye won't get the start because Twolves will focus on D and want to start hassel i think..
I think they will start the season with the lineup of James/Davis/Hassell/Garnett/Blount. Guys like Foye and Eddie will get good playing time and the opportunity to get a starting spot as the year goes along. Just because Foye isnt starting at the beginning of the year does not mean that he wont have a large role. The wolves want to make sure they get out to a good start so they dont have to deal with all the KG trade crap early on, thus they will put the more veteran lineup on the floor and work in the youngsters off the bench.
I think the TWolves also plan to move Jaric to SF this season. Apparently, he's played better at the three and gives them another ball handler on the floor and creates some match up advantages. I'd probably want Ricky Davis coming off the bench. He thrived as the 6th man in Boston, and can be the primary score for the TWolves second unit. Having Hassell start gives the TWolves better balance in the starting rotation and takes some defensive pressure off KG and James.
Ricky's occasional mental lapses on defense make him a better candidate for a spark off the bench. He can come in, score some points, do at least one ridiculously excessive dunk, and play solid defense
