It's funny how some writers and commentators said that we put up a bigger fight than Detroit.

And that first game was blowout so that's not exactly luck, now is it?

<div class="quote_poster">Answer_AI03 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Its true, it really doesnt matter if a team is boring or not, except to the fans, but is Vince really going to win anything in new jersey? There will be other teams looking for him when he is a free agent that will probably be better than the nets by then. I think the young players for charlotte and orlando (if they can sign him) will complement carter alot better than an aging pg in kidd. Both these teams will be better defensivley also, giving carter more energy on offense. i just dont see why he would stay in nj.</div>

Finally, someone that actually makes sense [IMG] You really think Vince is going to always want to be with a team that only takes him to the second round of the playoffs or so. He's going to want to be traded or at least bought by another team that has the right players to make a run at the championship. The Nets don't have this. There's nothing wrong with it, but I really think Vince will be tired of being the go-to-guy on a team that he has to carry himself because no one else will. There's nothing wrong with playing for a LEGITIMATE contender; Drexler did it with Houston after the Blazers, Barkley tried to do it with Houston, Karl tried to do it with LA, and Payton and Mourning did it with Miami because Shaq was there. Heed my words, Carter is not going to stay with New Jersey much longer.

Wait didn't you say Carter is the Nets best player and is what gets Nets wins? If that's the case, then <u>he</u> only takes us to the second round and not farther.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There's nothing wrong with playing for a LEGITIMATE contender</div>

Orlando is the only team that is looking to pick him up and they aren't a legitimate contender at this point. Even with him, they won't go any farther than what he achieved with the Nets.

I know. Listen, I know you're loyal to your team. When Toronto made it to the playoffs for the first time and got swept by New York, I watched every game and thought we almost could have won each game, but the better team always shines through, and the differential of the win was always by a couple of points all the time. I don't remember about that Detroit/Miami series, but I'm sure that Miami won 4-2, which means that they had a tougher time. It's only natural to think that your team could do this or that, but stats would show that Detroit was a harder team to beat than New Jersey because it was 4-2, as opposed to 4-1.

I agree with you about everything but this. By next year if the Magic sign Vince, they will become contenders. VC has a couple more years in him and if he signs with Orlando they will become a fierce team with Howard, Nelson, and Carter. J.J. Redick is also a great shooter and Hedo Turkolu (sp?) is tremendously underatted.

I agree that they won one more game than the Nets, but I'm telling you what some writers and commentators said. It was something like this "Nets had put up a bigger fight on both ends of the floor". It's not something I'm making up, but in fact what I heard. I didn't watch the Miami/Detroit series so I can't give my opinion on it.

Not to mention that Vince is from that area as well, which means that he will be more inspired to play there (his heart will be more in it), and Vince's history shows that when something means something to him, he will perform amazingly.

It's a great team, but I don't think they can topple someone like the Spurs or Phoenix. They are young and great players, but they won't be enough. They don't have as experience as some of the powerhouses. They are a future threat, but not a threat like the Spurs or Dallas, for at least a couple more seasons.

That shouldn't be the case. He should play with heart on any team or area he is in.

Then this goes to show that no matter how hard they fought, they just couldn't beat Miami, while Detroit, even though they didn't put up a big fight still managed to win 2 games. I know this doesn't pertain to this site, but I honestly believe that had Larry Brown been coaching Detroit, Detroit would have been in the finals with Dallas. You can clearly tell that the teamwork was not there with Detroit in the playoffs as opposed to the regular season where they won the most games in the East. Larry is great for this stuff.

Coaches can be overrated sometimes, and I really don't think that Brown could really change the series. Miami would of still came out on top in my opinion.

ya im pretty sure vince had an awsome series against the heat. But the heat are way too much for most of the teams in the east to handle. including the nets! and shaq will be a major factor until he retires.

i caught all the games and it really seemed like detroit sucked more than the heat played good. to me it just didnt look like the same pistons that played during the season. chauncey and rip were HORRIBLE. teyshaun was the only real consistant factor in that series.

This was true, they were playing more man-on-man than the teamwork that I'm used to seeing with the traditional Brown-Pistons. In any case, this is a New Jersey forum, so sorry about bringing this up.

So then we can say that the Nets put up a better fight than the Pistons? Or is that still not the case?

Of course this doesn't matter at all, so no point in answering it.

I remember seeing a couple of boxscores and yea I think Carter put up some impressive numbers (50 pt game + other stats) against them during the regular season, but I don't think he did as good against them during the playoffs.

Carter may have been dubbed as the next Michael Jordan when he came into the league, but what has he accomplished individually and on a team stand point? In 8 seasons, he has been NBA Rookie of the Year (1999), All NBA Second Team (2001), All NBA Third Teram (2000), Slam Dunk Champ (2000) and NBA All-Rookie Team (1999). 8 seasons! That's not much at all for what some of you might think he is. The Raptors had their best season with Carter was when they went 47-35 in 00-01, losing to Philadelphia in the second round. As amazing as some of you think Carter is, he hasn't done that much. [IMG] From the next MJ, what is Carter now? Just another scorer? Carter's highlight reels doesn't put him up there with Lebron, Kobe or Wade. Sorry, but fact is, Carter can't lead a team, and that people, is in the books! For those who think that a lot of teams want him, here's a question? What are those teams? Aside from Orlando, what team has looked at him? Fact of the matter is, Carter's value isn't much anymore. Carter's name has been rumored to be on the trading block but started and ended with Orlando. These are the FACTS![IMG]

I never really saw Carter as a leader myself. The facts are though that Orlando might not even be looking into him anymore because he's gonna want a lot of $$$$$$$$. I think the Magic are leaning on Josh Howard now more than Carter or evening looking at trying to get Rashard Lewis. Carter is a solid scorer and a good defender though. Sure he's made the All-Star game(because fans vote for him) but he has had a decent career. I mean you can't say the guy sucks. I don't remember anyone saying he was the next Jordan though. But then again, who is? Is Kobe, D-Wade, LeBron, or T-Mac the next Jordan?? HELL NO!!! There can only be one Jordan and that's Michael Jordan.

I bet most of the teams in the nba would go after carter if they knew he was available. he may not be a leader, but is still one of the top echelon players in the nba. as far as free agency goes...its really too hard to say what he might do right now, depends on if money or winning is more important. however, i still think he'll be out of new jersey by then.

Huh? Aside from Orlando, what teams are you talking about? If there are interested teams on Carter, what better time than now? If that's the case, where are the offers? Not one legitimate offer has been made. Fact is, teams will not gamble on a high maintenance player like Carter.

The Magic AREN'T that interested in Carter anymore. When Carter becomes a FA, he is gonna ask for too much especially for his age. The Magic rather have a younger player. Also, Charlotte still is looking at Carter possibly for the future but haven't said anything about it yet.
